Chapter 9

Eddie's P.O.V
Steve and I entered the upside down first, we scouted all around looking for any sign of monsters getting ready to attack, but to our surprise there were none. "That's odd, guys your ok to come down, but there's nothing here." We exited the upside down trailer and low and behold no monsters. My guitar was still slung around my back, I gripped the strap tightly, Steve and I wandered around the trailer for any sign of monsters but nothing was around. "This would be a good thing, but I have a feeling it's not, something big could go down." Nancy said as she approached us with the Byers, her brother, his girlfriend and Henderson in tow. "No Sinclair again? I'm guessing he didn't wanna leave Red?" I said sympathetically. Mike nodded. Nancy sighed and continued on with the run down, "ok, Eddie will scout ahead with Steve to see if there's anything going on, Eleven and Mike will stay by the trailer to see where Vecna is. As for the rest of us, stand by. We will wait for a signal from Steve, one howl means safe, two means danger, and three means emergency." "What if something goes wrong and steve can't howl?" Johnathan deadpanned. "Then we improvise." Steve added. With that we all took off for our respective areas, then steve spoke up, "just in case something goes wrong, I just wanted to let you all know, your my family. My pack." I beamed and me and Steve took off, leaving the others to do their part.

Steve and I ran as fast as we could. "I'll try and see if I can spot anything from above!" I suggested, Steve nodded and willed my wings to come out, I flew high above the dark trees and got a birds eye view of the upside down, I saw the trailer park far away, then the rest of the town, one building that stood out was an old looking factory place, I saw most of the monsters surrounded over there. Jackpot. I flew back down and hovered next to Steve, "over by that old building! Most of the monsters are over there! Vecna must be hiding over there." I reported. "The old Hawkins lab? That's strange, why would he be over there?" He wondered, I shrugged, "well stranger things have happened, and besides wasn't he 001 too? Like from the same thing as Eleven?" I suggested. "Yeah that's true, but still, something doesn't seem right. Let's go check it out anyways." He said shrugging. I nod and land softly on the ground, willed my wings away and continued to run with Steve. We reached the lab and low and behold, the monsters surrounded the area, Vecna has to be here.

As we approached all of the monsters started to take notice of us, luckily since we were still shifted we were able to get through without any of them getting suspicious about some random people on there turf. That is until one of them gets a whiff from Steve, "shit! They must've smelled something off about me, I guess since you, well, died here they didn't find anything wrong with you." Steve said carefully, a pang of sadness burrowed underneath again, but I sadly smiled then a spark came to me. "Steve, I'll distract them, you go inside and find Vecna." "What no! You are coming with me or I'm coming with you!" He argued, I stood my ground. "I will not let you sacrifice yourself for me, not again! You find Vecna and I'll catch up with you!" "No I am not leaving you, never again. You died sacrificing yourself and it constantly ate me up inside ever since you came back, because you never really died. You were just left here, and ever since you told us, it's been eating away at me, so I am never ever going to leave your side, ever again." He said tears welling in his eyes, I smiled back and gave him a quick peck on the cheek, "it's ok Stevie boy, but I can't carry you and play my guitar at the same time." Then I had an idea yet again. "You can shift into your wolf form and take care of the monsters down here while I take care of them from the air!" I improvised, steve nodded appreciatively, then he was instantly changed and pounced on every monster in his path, as I took off into the sky, right above the sea of monsters below me. I saw Steve attacking any monster he can, tearing them apart with his massive wolf paws, I whipped my guitar out and start to shred on it, playing master of puppets yet again. All of the demobats fly around me, seeming to recognise me as their own and I entranced them, then commanded that they go scout were the lake would be. They did as I said and I continued to play, to attract the demodogs away from Steve, I flew closer to the ground and played the guitar solo. All of the demodogs reeled in pain, Steve did too, which kinda hurt but it was probably because the higher frequency was fucking with their hearing like a dog whistle. The demodogs ran away and Steve bounced all over the place, begging me to stop, I finished the solo and the place was monster free. I flew down and calmed Steve down, his fur was sticky with monster blood, I couldn't control my hunger so I picked up a dead demodog from the ground and drained it from its remaining blood. "Ok big boy, howl to the others to signal it's safe, then we'll head inside. I have no idea how long it will take them to get here but it's our best shot." I said. He nodded and lifted his big head into the sky, and howled very loudly.

After the howl fest, we headed inside the creepy building, nothing seemed out of place. No monsters were even inside. Steve and I were tense as we walked through the laboratory, Steve being careful where he steps with his wolf paws, as we reach a corridor I stopped and suggested something to Steve. "I know you won't like it but I'm gonna become a bat and scout ahead to see if anything's there." Steve lowly growled at the corridor than whimpered at me, as if begging me not to go, I smiled and cupped my clawed hands onto his big beautiful brown snout. I placed my forehead on his big wolfy one, "I'll be ok Stevie boy, I promise. As soon as I see anything I'll come straight back. If I don't come back in 10 minutes you can come and find me." I calmly told him, reassuring him as much as I can muster, he softly nodded and laid down. I smiled at the seemingly big puppy and in a puff of black smoke I became a small bat again. I gave one more small smile to Steve and flew off. As I flew down the corridor I felt cold chills all over me, as if someone was watching me, I constantly turned as I flew, turning my small bat head around to see if anyone's there. But low and behold nothing is there. As I reach the end of the corridor I notice that one of the doors is open compared to the others, gotcha Bitch, Vecna must be in this room. I entered the room and noticed that it had a lot of vines in it, way more than the others, that must mean he's here. I slowly flapped my wings and was careful to avoid the vines, then I saw him, strung up in tendrils, as if he's charging up or something. I transformed back and carefully stepped forward, claws at the ready to strike, his eyes were closed in focus. The vines around me started to slowly get closer, ok this is my cue to leave. Then one of the vines wraps around my ankle. Shit, he knows I'm here, and yet another one wraps around my other ankle, pinning me to the ground. I will my wings and flap them hard to get away, but the vines tighten their grip on me. Then I hear a voice echo throughout the entire room, that could only come from one person, Vecna.

"Eddie. You finally came. I was expecting you." I thrashed my feet in an attempt to break free, but the vines grabbed my wrists and tightened, then grab at my wings I hadn't willed away yet. I made a desperate attempt to put them away but they grabbed them just as I did so, I let out a pained cry as they tugged on the wings. "What the fuck do you want you asshole?!" I growled. He laughed coldly, "I'm sure you already know, Steve already told you didn't he? You and Steve are going to serve under me, as long as I want." I panicked harder, I was not gonna be this piece of shits slave! Let alone let him get to Steve, "We will never work for you!" I countered. "Ah you see Eddie, you will. I will make you my right hand man, you are the key to my success. You and your little boyfriend. Yes I know about it, and it's interesting. So I have decided to use you to make him come to me. To make him my puppet, just like you." He said in a dark tone. My eyes widened in fear. "What? No no! Leave him out of this! I'll become your puppet ok?! Just leave him alone!" I said desperately. I couldn't let him hurt Steve. "Oh Eddie, you need to listen better. I said I need the both of you to complete my plan. And since you died in my realm you are easier to control than Steve is." He further explained. A ball of emotions built in my stomach. He outreaches a clawed hand to my face, his long fingers almost close to me, I went to bite his hand but a vine wrapped itself around my mouth, he shook his head in disappointment. "Now come on Eddie, there's no need to bite, just stay still." He said menacingly. Tears welled in my eyes, making them blurry and hard to see. The last thing I saw was a long fingered clawed hand reaching towards my face, then the world turned black.
