It was a calm Monday morning as the sun rose over Elmore and the Wattersons were all in the kitchen eating their breakfast. Well, nearly all of them.
"Where's Gumball? He should be down by now!" Nicole asked.
"In the shower." replied Darwin nonchalantly.
"Well he'd better hurry up, the bus will be here soon!"
Anais sighed and got up. "I'll go and get him..."
"Thank you, sweetie."
She went upstairs to the bathroom.
She paused as she heard Gumball singing poorly and couldn't help but giggle.
She knocked on the door holding back laughter. "Hey, I know you're in the middle of a concert but you should hurry up in there, the bus is gonna be here soon!"
She smirked. "Besides, I'm pretty sure most of the audience has already left with singing like that!"
She burst out laughing.
"HEY! My singing's not that bad!" She heard a muffled voice reply.
"Yeah, it is! I've heard dogs that can sing better than you!"
He scoffed. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. I'm done anyway."
He unlocked the door and came out with a towel around his waist. "There, I'm out. Happy now?" He said snarkily.
Her ears lowered slightly. "Awww, hey, I didn't mean to upset you, I was only teasing you..."
"Whatever." He crossed his arms and looked away.
She looked down, her ears lowering further as she let out a sniff, feeling guilty for upsetting him.
He suddenly turned back, broke into a grin and chuckled. "Awww, I'm only messing with you! I know you were just joking."
She let out a sigh of relief. "Oh, good! I hate seeing you upset...especially when it's my fault..."
"Awww, does Ani not like it when her big bwover is sad?" He teased her in a babyish voice.
She blushed lightly and playfully punched him in the arm. "Shut up!"
He laughed at her reaction as she began to grin. "It's not funny!"
This only served to make him laugh harder.
After laughing a little longer he managed to regain his composure and sighed. "God, I love winding you up..."
She responded by playfully rolling her eyes.
He smiled and placed a paw on her shoulder. "and hey, don't worry about upsetting me, it takes a lot more than insulting my singing to do that."
She giggled. "You call that singing? Sounded more like a dying chipmunk to me!"
"Oi, cheeky! Don't push it!"
He ruffled the fur on her head causing her to giggle again.
"Right, I'd better go get dressed, you go get your stuff ready and I'll meet you downstairs."
'Alright!"
She went downstairs as he went into his and Darwin's room and began to get dressed.
As he did he began to think to himself.
He was surprised by how happy he was. Despite it being a Monday he was in a surprisingly good mood. He only hoped it lasted.
He suddenly heard Darwin yell, bringing him out of his thoughts. "Gumball, quick, the bus is here!"
He gasped and hurriedly hopped out of his room, his sweater half on and only one leg in his trousers.
He ran to the stairs and tripped and fell down them, painfully landing at the door.
"Oww..."
He got up, readjusted and cracked his bones back into place and saw the bus doors close through the open front door.
"No, wait!"
He ran out as he pulled his pants up and got his sweater on.
"WAIT!"
The bus began to drive away as he ran after it.
"STOOOOPPP!!!" He yelled out despite knowing it was useless.
He slowly stopped running as he saw Darwin and Anais at the back, looking through the window at him apologetically. They shrugged before turning back around as the bus drove away.
He sighed. "Great...guess I'll have to walk. Well, it's nice out at least..."
He began to walk and got to the end of the road before he realised he'd forgotten his bag.
He sighed in annoyance and ran back to see his Mom standing in the doorway holding it out for him.
"Forget something?" She asked.
"Yeah, thanks."
"No problem sweetie, now you get off to school."
"Alright, see you later, love you!" He gave her a quick hug.
"I love you too sweetheart, have a good day!" She rubbed his head affectionately and he left.
As he walked he thought about what had happened. Well, that wasn't the ideal way to start the day...still, could be worse, at least it's not rai-
Suddenly he heard the rumble of a thunderstorm as the sky darkened.
"Oh come on!"
Rain began to pour down heavily, completely drenching him.
"Me and my big stupid mouth..." He mumbled to himself annoyed as he walked.
"Gonna have to sit in wet clothes for most of the day, great, just great."
He felt himself slipping into a bad mood and shook his head, snapping himself out of his bad thoughts and letting out a sigh. "Oh well, they'll dry in a couple of hours I suppose. Just got deal with it until then..."
A little while later and he finally arrived at school, his fur and clothes thoroughly soaked.
He reached the door and paused before he went in. School hasn't even started yet and I've already missed the bus and gotten drenched...
...today is gonna be a looooong day...
He sighed and opened the door, heading inside.
