S1E1 - WE ONLY SEE EACH OTHER AT WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS

ANGEL PUSHED OPEN the glass door to Griddy's Doughnuts and looked around before her eyes landed on Five sitting at the bar. She slowly walked up to him, checking her surroundings, and sat on his right, clasping her hands together with an emotionless face. She wasn't intentionally sure if she would show up. She owed Five nothing at all, and she sure as hell wasn't about to, but her curiosity got the better of her and she showed up anyway.

"About time," he scolded.

Angel said nothing in response.

Five rolled his eyes, "If I tell you what I plan to tell you, you cannot tell anyone unless I say so." Five paused, waiting for his sister to say anything. Five groaned, "No one else would understand. Do you understand?"

Angel craned her neck to look at him. Five studied her face, taking that as a sign she understood. After a while of Five talking, he'd explained to her what the world would soon come to. He explained that by coming back to the present day, he planned to help stop the apocalypse and save everyone's life. Angel would internally scoff every time Five mentioned working together, cause hell, they could never have a conversation without being dickheads to each other. The bell chimed just as Five and Angel finished mentally strangling each other. An older man in a plaid button-down and vest sat down next to Five. The two kids stopped talking and stared forward. Finally, Five pressed the service bell and waited for the lady to come to get their order.

Five gave the man a side glance, watching as he sat his hat down and started to work on a crossword puzzle out of the paper. He nudged Angel and nodded his head toward the man, telling her to be on guard. She simply stared blankly and listened as dishes clattered from behind the wall, and watched the waitress come from around the corner.

"Sorry, sink was clogged," the lady chuckled, "So, what'll it be?"

"Uh, give me a chocolate eclair," the man replied.

"Hm sure," the waitress glanced at the two kids, "Can I get the kids a glace of milk or something?"

"Coffee, black," Five nodded.

The three waited for Angel to say something, anything. When she said nothing, Five sighed.

"Make it two,"

"Cute kids," The waitress chuckled.

'Agnes' Angel read from the woman's nametag. She walked away to go get their orders. Five sighed and glanced over at the man.

"Don't remember this place being such a shithole," Five mumbled. "I used to come here as a kid. I used to sneak out with my brothers and sisters and eat doughnuts until we puked. Simpler times, huh?"

"I supposed," the man mumbled his reply obviously confused.

Angel internally smiled at the memory, frowning at realizing the last time they did that was the night before Five's disappearance. Klaus had convinced her to come out of her room for long enough to go. She remembered the night, it was one of the best of her life. Klaus bit into a jelly doughnut and it spewed all over his neck.

"Here," Agnes said, carrying two coffee mugs and a plate.

She set the mugs down, both filled with black coffee, then she set down the man's eclair.

"Here, I got theirs," the man said, handing money to the waitress.

"Thanks," Five nodded toward the man.
