Sweetie saw that Chase started sweating and was worried about what was happening to him, or what triggered it. Even the silence was strange.
"Chase, are you okay?" She calmly said, putting a paw on his. She was really worried when he did not answer that. Ella just sat there, hoping Sweetie would resolve this on her own, which would mean that Chase was fine.
"Chase, you don't need to lie. Answer her, I told you I won't be mad at you." Sweetie added, rubbing his paw. Chase was at the edge of hyperventilating but Sweetie still kept him alright.
Chase, despite the silence, fell down on Sweetie, and immediately a heavy crying was heard. Sweetie was surprised and started to try him calm down. Ella left the room to give them privacy, but that still did not help.
"Chase, you know I love you, just tell me, what is happening?" Sweetie said, still hoping Chase would answer.
"My sis, my connection, my only real connection." He said to Sweetie, crying even more. Sweetie immediately knew that something bad happened to her and Chase was probably devasted.
"Only Ryder knows about her. And now you. She was the only one that ever loved me, even though she was my sibling." Chase sobbed into Sweetie's back, Sweetie rubbing his with her paw.
"Chase, I know how you feel. But, I love you too. Yes, it's impossible to let me love you more than your own famil-"
"Sweetie. My father was shot, my mum drugged herself to death, and my sister Sylvia died in my arms when a wolf tore her apart." Chase said, tears all over the couch. Sweetie did not care at all around her. She just wanted to calm Chase down.
Chase then picked up Sweetie and hugged her tightly, because she was the one he cared the most about, and after this revoked memory, he wants to protect her and never lose her.
"Shhh, it will be alright Chase." She said softly, rubbing his back. Chase let his tears out, feeling slightly better when he told her about his past.
They both internally decided that Chase is going home, which Ella agreed on without hesitation. As they were leaving the building, Ella quickly stopped Sweetie and closed the door after Chase exited.
"Sweetie. I don't want to ask anything about what happened, but, Chase as you s-" "Ella, I practiced psychology, I know. I won't bring up anything triggering, and be with him." Sweetie slightly meanly replied and opened the door again and left towards Chase, who looked like he was at the edge of death. She jumped into his cruiser and nuzzled his cheek, which warmed him up.
"Let me drive." She added, to which he nodded, and moved himself to the back. She started up the engine, and drove away, ignoring the speed limit, which she hoped Chase wouldn't care for.
After some time, they got back to the lookout, already not seeing the Paw Patroller at the field. Sweetie stopped with the cruiser at the place for it and transformed it to the pup house form, to which Chase instantly got in. She just sighed, when she saw his face. Giving him some time, she walked inside the lookout, where she found a box. She came to it, and opened it, revealing a note and something wrapped in thick bubble wrap.
"Sweetie, this is your collar. It's the most advanced thing I've ever made, apart from Chase's, so be careful. I would be happy if you and Chase came up to the mountain in the evening and we can make it official."
She placed the note down and took the bubble wrap, and bit it till it opened. It revealed a purple collar, with a tag strapped to it on which were small black glasses and shadowy tools portraited, and in the background was a usual Barkingburg's night sky. She just smiled and took it and walked back outside.
As she came to Chase's pup house, she already heard slight sobbing coming out. Getting inside, and snuggling between him and his pillow that he was hugging, he cried into Sweetie's shoulder.
"Chase, it'll be okay." Sweetie cooed him, but it did not help.
"How can you know?" "I lost my siblings too, in a fire. I know you loved your sister, she must've loved you too. But she is up there, looking after you and you'll make her happy when you stop crying." Sweetie tried talking to him like someone really young, which Chase wasn't. But was surprised that it worked, because Chase stopped crying and lifted himself up.
"You are right. She won't return back. It's just, that I loved her. She was the only one that was beside me when I grew up. I promised her to become a police dog, but at that time talking dogs weren't something normal. And look, I did it." Chase cried out, hugging the terrier again, and letting emotions take over.
"Chase, and you made much more. You became a spy, you are known all over the world, and most importantly, you are the best partner a pup could ask for." Sweetie said, surprising Chase.
"Partner?" "Not like a partner in crime or that. A loving partner. It feels strange to call you my boyfriend, so I thought of this." Sweetie said full of love in her voice. "I really love you, Chase."
"I love you even more Sweetie," Chase said, lifting himself up. "Would you like to go on a date with me?"
Chase asked Sweetie, which she was not expecting. Nodding and smiling, Chase immediately felt better.
"I know the best place to go, so, in an hour?" Chase said, with Sweetie nodding, and playfully slapping him across his nose with her tail when she exited his pup house. But then stopped.
"Would you mind...putting this on?" She unclicked the lock on her collar and passed Chase the new one. Chase was slightly surprised but went to her and locked the lock on her new collar. Sweetie slightly adjusted it and smiled and turned around. "How do I look?"
"Magnificent, as always." He said and kissed Sweetie.
The others were up cleaning up the new place for camping and also preparing some marks where people can start a fireplace. As they were relaxing, Ryder spoke.
"Pups, I want to tell you something. It's Chase's birthday tomorrow, and you know how his last one went." Ryder said, having everyone recall his birthday that...simply said did end before it started.
"Chase feels better now, so, what if we give him the best birthday party he ever had?" Ryder suggested to which everyone howled in agreement.
"Just a question; how did Chase's health change?" Tracker, who was visiting asked.
"If you ask him, he will tell you 'because of Sweetie'," Marshall said, returning back to his work like everyone else. Tracker stood there slightly concerned about what he heard. Sweetie? Changed Chase? Oh god, please don't tell me...they are together.
He quietly and sadly walked to his place to work and continued, while still thinking about what he heard. Skye noticed it and went to him.
"Hey Tracker, you alright?" She asked the chihuahua who just nodded, but she knew he was lying. "Come on, what's wrong?"
"You heard how Marshall said that Chase changed because of Sweetie?" "Yeah, I know that, but he didn't change to bad. It somewhat cured him." Skye explained to him.
"Yeah, that's good. But, how?" "Well, rumors say that Chase got together with her. Althou-"
"Wait. Together? Like, they love each other?" Tracker asked, to which Skye shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't really know. I am not present at the lookout much these days, but maybe. I think that Chase loves her, but I don't know about her." Skye said and left, leaving Tracker even more confused.
Does that mean Sweetie can't be mine? How? I thought I had the perfect chance! But now, she is maybe with Chase. Tracker thought angrily. How can that stupid spy dog be better than me?!
He got angry at Chase, who took his future dream wife.
But it was just all a start.
Tracker grinned and continued working.
And preparing for him.
