"Sweetie! Cookie! We are just waiting for you!" The terrier shouted at the two small puppies, running on the field.
"Coming mom!" Cookie shouted back and looked back at Sweetie. "Last wound?"
"You bet, thwee, two, one," She lowered herself to the ground as well as the other terrier did and shouted, "GO!!"
They both sprinted towards the pine tree, around it and through a hole made out of rocks, and back to the starting point.
"Yeeee, winnew!" Sweetie exclaimed as she saw her brother arriving, running out of breath. She playfully jumped to him and nuzzled his cheek. "Faiw play?"
"Faiw play, Sweetie." He said and smiled, accepting his defeat. "But we should go."
"Yeah, let's go." She answered and they both got up from the grass and walked towards the house their owners lived in. Sweetie wanted to race with her brother, but seeing how exhausted he was, she let it go and just walked.
Looking around the field they luckily had direct access to, she saw a small bird nest in one of the trees and smiled. Seeing how nature looked, she wanted to help these animals. Not particularly birds, but animals in danger.
"DOWN!" Her ears perked at the sudden voice and she immediately stopped and looked around. In one second she couldn't find Cookie anywhere, and it was immediately followed by an explosion in the house.
Flames tore down the roof, glass from windows shattered all over the garden, and no sight of any of her parents, or any of her siblings. She just watched in horror the flames lighting up the evening sky, and heard sirens coming closer to the house.
It immediately got in her head, that if they saw her, they'll take her to the shelter, and she will stay there, forever. Taking a leap of faith, she took a deep breath, and with the last tear shed while looking at the house in flames, she sprinted as fast as she could down the field, heading straight towards the nearest town she knew, Barkingburg...
Engines...
Sweetie slowly opened her eyes, finding herself in a room, or rather a part of the Air Patroller. As she wanted to move, she felt something literally in her. Slowly, in pain, she looked around herself and found a few bruises and some syringes. What happened? Was on her mind at the same moment.
"Oh thank god."
She heard, instantly recognizing the voice. Turning back around, she saw Ryder, kneeling down to her, behind him Marshall, with medic equipment, and on the other side Chase, asleep.
"W-What happened?" She asked for real now, as Ryder looked down.
"Basic C4 buried in the asphalt, or rather down in the sewers. Something set it off and blew you far away. It took more than an hour to come here and track you, and bring you here." Ryder said, scratching her head.
"Why didn't you bring me to the castle?" "We wanted, really. But, it's on a lockdown, and we had no way of unlocking it because the princess does not answer her phone." Ryder explained to the terrier, while the medic pup carefully took out the needless, and placed plasters on the places.
"We have a thou-" "And Chase?" She asked, being more worried for him than for herself. He just sighed and tried to put on a smile, but impossible.
"He is...not good. Not hurt. But I don't know how his mind will take it. I'm scared he is going to have more problems than he had now." He said, getting up. "Now, res-"
