Vivian got ready in office attire. He had finally started his own start-up company ARB Fashions, which was a textile industry, and it strived to make high-end clothes along with shoes and belts at reasonable prices. ARB, it stood for the three most amazing brothers he had: Alex, Rich and Ben. He had taken their blessings when he had decided to take their initials for his brand name. They
had been nothing but overwhelmed with joy.Today was the opening of his third outlet in the last six months. He had achieved a lot of success and had caught hold of many investors who were willing to buy shares of the company. His office was in the building next to Enigmatic Homes in Texas. It was good thing his workplace was closer to one of his brothers. Alex's was a thirty minutes drive from there, and Ben was in New York so there was no question.
The fact was, he loved his brothers. And that included Ben. Tying the green coloured tie around his neck with expertise, he pulled up his classic black blazer and trod downstairs. He still lived with Rich, and honestly, he loved it. It had only been a year since he had started his company but right about now, a few days ago, when his third outlet opened, he was able to accumulate enough expense to buy a bungalow. It was nothing too extravagant, just a two-storey bungalow in the outskirts, and it had a garden at the front.
Subconsciously he had agreed to make it final because he knew how much he loved gardens, especially Alex's. He adored living with Rich, and they had been living together since he was eighteen and both of his elder brothers had taken his responsibility like two fathers. His sister-in-laws were super cool too. He loved Jean, and he would miss her more than Rich, he thought, chuckling how the redhead woman always took care of him, fed him, played basketball with him.
But he had his own company now, and it would make him feel a lot better to loosen his brother's responsibilities and start taking his own from now. When he came downstairs, he saw Richard deeply concentrating on his laptop while Jean was helping him with something. She was seven months and some days pregnant, and she had a glow on her face, her baby bump lining as she was wearing a flowy red dress. Dress?
Were they going somewhere?
"Morning, my Queen." He bowed to Jean and looked at Rich. "Morning." He said, disinterestedly.
Richard gagged. "I don't need your morning. Aren't you getting late?"
He loved these bickers, these silly saracstic arguments. He would miss them once he moved out. "Yeah...bro, I gotta tell you something!"
"Yeah?"
"I'll be moving out tomorrow. I have finalised a bungalow just twenty minutes from here, and I will shift as soon as-" He stopped, noticing Jean tearing up. "Oh, my J, don't cry."
He went to her and kneeled in front of her, taking her hands in his. "I love living here but getting a house is an achievement and I wouldn't have been able to do it without all your support." He smiled at her and looked at Rich. "Bro, why are you silent? Say...something..."
Richard sighed, his face in a light smile. "I'm so happy for you, Viv. I love having you here, we're together since time immemorial and I took care of you since you were twelve, and we've been living here since you were eighteen and it'll be hard. But, you're not twelve or eighteen anymore, you're twenty-four and this is a feat of your achievement. I have to admit it's sad, but you're not small anymore...you've grown up, golden boy."
Vivian shook his head. "I'll always be the baby brother to you and Alex, and Ben..." He hugged him, patting him on his back.
Jean joined in soon, and when they had started laughing and giggling, he had no idea. Richard was taking Jean to see a movie and he gave him a lift to his office. As Vivian waved them goodbye, he felt sad and at the same time, happy that he had achieved so much. This was a new beginning of his life. The one where he would be happy and content.
His brothers had done a lot for him. They had always tried to shield him, protect him from the negativity of the world, but he had been exposed to pain, lies and bitterness. He wasn't their untainted golden boy anymore. Someone had maligned his name, someone had broke his heart, and he was tainted with the shades of anger and suffering.
He went to his cabin, greeting his staff on the way. Today he was supposed to interview a few people for jobs, and he was nervous as it was his first time being in the position of power.
His recruitment manager, Ezra Sky, followed him around. "Sir, there's four people coming in for the job of your assistant."
"Hmm. Their names?"
"Ellie Jones, Kim Jung, Nathan Depp and yeah, Eva...Eva Thomas." Ezra read out in his deep, gravelly voice.
His heart stopped. "Profile of Miss. Thomas?"
"Let's see, yeah, she's twenty four, she has studied Business Management from Texas school of business in Houston..."
"What batch?"
"2017 to 2022 batch of five years."
"Cancel the interviews, Ezra. Hire Miss. Thomas."
"But, sir, the applicants-"
He turned around, his blue eyes cold and dark. "Do what I say, Ezra."
The manager nodded and left his cabin, noting something on his pad.
Eva Thomas.
Destiny had brought him the woman who destroyed him, and was responsible for his heartbreak. What would he do?
He would show her the best time in the world.
