The party started the moment Ben and Sarah entered the house. Ben who looked as if he had seen a ghost when the entire Hamilton family shouted 'Happy birthday'. Sarah who was standing beside him had a chuckle on her face hinting that she had an idea about this.

"You knew, baby?" Ben looked at his wife, and then at Alex. "Thanks, man. Thanks to all of you!" He hugged Alex, Faith, Richard and then Jean.

Slowly, he turned towards him. Vivian was distressed, yet seeing Ben after two months felt nice. "Hi, Viv. Sup, my man?"

Vivian hugged him. "I'm great."

"Girlfriend?" Ben said, pointing his finger towards Eva.

Yes, that's what he needed right now, Vivian thought with a sigh.

"No, she's my--assistant."

Eva came forward again with that pathetic, cute little smile of hers which lightened up her entire face. He couldn't help but notice the puffiness of her cheeks and the soft gleam of her eyes. "Hi, happy birthday, Mr. Williams."

"It's Ben. Please don't call me Mr. Williams. It makes me realise how old I'm getting." Ben chuckled.

"You're going to be a father. Of course, you're old." Vivian said, rolling his eyes.

His mission was to interrupt in their conversation, whatsoever. He didn't want anyone from his family liking Eva. Only he knew what she was like; under that sweet exterior, was a cold and brutal person who had no qualms about hurting others. But he had done a terrible mistake.

He had kissed her.

It had been delightful. And the problem was, he wanted to do it again. He wanted to for over and over again, and even now as he was staring at his entire family, he wanted to hold her hand, take her someplace private and kiss her. It was coming to him like an urge, and weirdly he wasn't feeling uncomfortable, at all.

Her outfit was neutral. She didn't have much make-up on, but as he saw, she looked stunning. She had shifted to one side, talking with the girls. Jean, Faith and Sarah seemed to like her as they hovered over her, like buzzing bees, ready to open their secrets with each other. He had no idea why they liked her so much.

Jean was laughing gregariously, her red hair smoothed into a prim bun, she had a blue dress on that matched her eyes. As for Faith, she always looked serene; even when she wore something simple. She had a beige dress on, her hair was open but made straight and soft. Her eyes gleamed profusely at their own conversation. Then, Sarah, who smiled with a shyness that was eye-catching. She was wearing a red dress, and her black hair hung loose with curls on the other side.

And amidst all of them was Eva. His breath caught at the back of his throat. She was standing with expecting eyes, her back pressed lightly onto the wall. She was looking at the ladies, her lips in a thin line of smile. It was amusement, and wonder.

Her short hair hung loose with curls and at the ends, there were streaks of golden brown. Her eyes were looking down and up, soaking in the surroundings. Then she laughed, she laughed at some joke Jean had cracked. He stood there, staring at her, begging himself to look away. Alas, he kept looking at the vivid lashes that descended from her eyes, the happiness that bursted on his face.

"Yet you say she's just an assistant," It was Ben who made that remark, coming beside him.

Alex and Richard chuckled. They were seated on the sofa with wine glasses and a wine bottle. "Come on ladies, let's have a drink." It was Rich who called out to the secret party the girls were having.

Jean and Sarah looked at each other and then at their husbands. "Seriously, Richie Rich? We're pregnant." Jean cackled and sat on the sofa.

Sarah shook her head. "I think Ben hasn't yet realised he's going to be a father."
