She was going to the party. Today was Sunday so there was no office. She would directly meet everyone at the party. By everyone, she meant her colleagues, the Hamiltons, the Williams and him. She shivered at his thought, wondering what she would say to him if he was in front of her in a casual party environment.

Neil was supposed to go to a friend's house but it was cancelled that's why he had gone upstairs to the landlord who loved him like a grandson. She knew he would be safe there and one problem, Mr. Hopkins would immediately let her know. He was a disciplined ex-army official.

She stood in front of the mirror, looking at herself. She didn't like bright colours. Mostly because a few high school boys had teased her insensitively and partly due to th dear of standing out and being visible to others. She was happy blending in the crowd, she didn't want to attract anyone's attention or distract anyone.

She wanted to be invisible all her life. That's how she was wired from inside.

She discarded her neutral coloured shirts and top and looked at the yellow dress Faith had let her borrow; it was a sundress, on top of that. Perfect for summer parties. The dress was made of pure cotton. The length reached upto her knees, showcasing half of her thin legs. The upper area was tight and making her cleavage visible but from the waist, the dress was flowing glamourously like a princess' dress. It was sleeveless, and the sleeves were tied like bows on her forearm making her look like a gift box. At least that's what she thought. It was all flowy, sunny, warm and full of ribbons.

The dress was printed with huge red flowers, adding to the other things. It looked beautiful, though. The dress, not her. She couldn't gauge how she looked. She had never worn anything like this and she had no idea how to perceive herself. She adjusted the dress and looked at herself, again.

She looked okay, she guessed.

It was exactly the kind of dress that would make her stand out, she realised. Nervousness began to pry her senses. She kept her hair open, and took a few strands to clip it back together with a stone-studded claw clip. Her hair reached her shoulders and she unfurled a few locks of it to make her look better. She applied a little bit of make-up and applied a thin layer of black eye-liner that made her eyes more engaging and lively.

She took her favourite nude lipstick and glided it on her lips. She thought it would look okay but it didn't. Somehow, the lip shade looked too dull on her now that she was wearing the brightest dress on Earth!

She pressed a wet tissue on her lips, removing the nude colour. She rummaged through her makeup pouch, trying to find a shade that would match the brightness of the dress. Thankfully, she found a lipstick that hadn't used before. It was new and was still wrapped in the packaging. She remembered that Neil had gifted her this on her previous birthday with his saved-up pocket money.

She didn't know what colour it was.

She opened the new pack and took out the lipstick. She clipped it open, rotating it to see a bright red stick coming. She sighed. She never knew her little brother had given her a red lipstick. Even he wanted her to wear something bright. Her heart swelled with emotions and without any second thought, she applied the red lipstick dexterously on her lips, letting the creamy pigment cover her mouth in a gentle mould.

Oh god.

She looked colourful.

She didn't know whether it was the yellow dress or the red lipstick but she felt so suddenly alive that she couldn't stand up straight. She took hold of the bed and sat down, soothing her raging heart. It was almost time to leave.

Vivian looked around the party. His employees were here, and so was his family. Ezra was a good friend to him, not just an employee and coincidentally, George was friends with Alex and Ben. So, newsflash, the entire Hamilton troupe was here.
