Eva didn't know what to say. but she had no idea why her heart was racing like a horse. She felt so restless, even more dejected. Her boss who had seemed to be sweet when they were in college was, in truth, a tyrant to her. He was behaving so badly with her that it was appalling her. She was currently in the living room of Alex's house, and she had just heard the older brothers teasing Vivian about her.

It was shocking, but what shocked her more was her own behaviour. She was flustered.

After she had introduced herself to Richard and Alex, she looked at her employer who seemed flustered, too. His cheeks were stained red, and he dropped his gaze to the floor. He thought of her? She had no idea. But why would his brothers tease him about her? Did he have some feelings-

No.

She shrugged off those lame thoughts and joined in the crazy conversation between the family. It was a wonderful family, she realised, remembering how her own family was; loving and caring for each other through thick and thin.

She observed everyone, sitting on the couch. They were laughing and talking. The eldest brother, as she could guess, was Alex. Everyone was referring to him as big brother and with a strange kind of respect and admiration. Alex was tall, well-built, and had prince charming looks. Prince charming as in he had green eyes that made her remember the dark forest pools that reflected with green trees, and his hair was not jet black, it was brown. His features were soft and warm, there was a kindness in his smile and his mouth curved into a chuckle most of the time.

Then her eyes landed on the second eldest one. Richard. Yes, that's what his name was. He was the exact opposite of Alex. His height was similar to both his brothers but his appearance was starkly different. He had jet black hair that was shining incessantly against the bright lighting. His eyes were grey, with a blackish hint. Deep and smouldering would be the best ways to describe them, she thought. His face was sharp, all his features and lines fiercely put together. His look was really very sharp and sinewy. Yet there was a kindness to him.

She was here for Ben's birthday. She didn't know he was. Probably another brother.

She sighed. Soon, she was called by Alex to join in the conversation. Worried, she went towards him, angling her head towards Vivian who was giving her a glare. It was subtle but she was disturbed. She reluctantly stood beside Faith.

Faith was beautiful. Not just beautiful, very beautiful. She had soft features, she was voluptuous, and her hair was golden. It wasn't as golden as Vivian's hair. His hair was just like the sun, gold and shining. While Faith's hair was peachy blonde, and it looked so good on her. It reached upto her mid shoulders, her smile was contagious and her eyes were warm brown. There was a reason why Alex was so hooked on to his wife, she was gorgeous. But somehow, the Hamilton brothers didn't strike her as people who would only care about looks.

They were good-natured men, she thought.

"Hi, Eva, I'm Jean."

"Hi, Jean." She looked at her and smiled. "If you don't mind, can I ask you something?"

"Sure."

"Is that your natural hair?"

Jean threw back her hair and laughed. "Yes, dear. It's natural. Ask my husband, he knows all about it. Don't you, Richie Rich?"

She meant Richard, Eva thought. They were a happy couple too. Jean was different than Faith; she was more bold and confident. She had flaming red hair and cerulean blue eyes that reminded her of icy coldness yet the woman's pleasing demeanour, laughing mouth and amicable words said otherwise. Jean was a very good person, just like all of them were.
