Vivian had a plan. His hidden agenda was for Vera to meet Eva. He wanted to see how it would play out. He almost had to drag Eva out of the office. The woman had some anger issues.

It didn't matter.

She would have to speak with him sooner or later. She sat inside his car begrudgingly, rolling her eyes while he drove the car. He looked at her, trying to gauge her feelings. But she was too closed off. She was silent. He kept his focus on driving but his eyes travelled to her oftentimes and he just saw her sitting like a doll. Silent and nil.

He didn't like her like that, damnit!

Palatable Steak was a good restaurant. His entire family loved the food here, especially Faith. He stepped out of the car in the parking lot and opened the door for her.

She got down, her stance very still and strong. She followed him inside, barely saying a word.

"Okay, Eva, cut it, alright! Stop being silent! Say something, for God's sake!" He couldn't help but murmur.

The restaurant was booming with people and a light melodious music was playing. She took a deep breath and stared at him. "What do you want me to say?" Her voice sounded soft, and it trembled.

"Nothing, in particular. I just want to have lunch with you." He stated. It was true. He wanted to have lunch with her and enjoy her company.

Honestly, he had started enjoying her company a lot more than he could imagine. She didn't reply, just merely nodded her head in silent approval. The waiter showed them to the table. It was a big table as compared to two people. Vera was going to join them too.

It so happened that Vera had expressed her wish to meet him. And he has agreed. It was he who had decided to bring Eva along merely to see...to check how Vera would react to her. They were best friends in college and maybe, just maybe, Vera could ignite that incident and then, Eva could honestly admit her fault.

And then maybe...

Maybe he could forgive her.

Eva was too damn oblivious! It was as if she had forgotten those college days, she had forgotten him, she had forgotten what she had done to him. And that's what frustrated him so much. If she admitted her fault, he knew he would forgive her in an instant.

After they had sat on their table, he ordered his favourite Chicken Pan Seared Steak. She just ordered a chicken salad. She had no mood for eating, he could tell that.

She was sitting across him, both her elbows resting on the tabletop. She was staring out of the huge glass window covering the view of adjoined shops and centers. She was looking at anything and anyone but him. The sunlight seared through the window and hit her face gently, and her skin glowed.

Her lips looked pink and plump. And everything about her seemed to throw him completely off-guard. What was this pathetically beautiful feeling? This feeling was making him go insane but also keeping his last bits of sanity intact. This feeling was generating anger within him but at the same time, washing him over with relief.

He cleared his throat. "How's Neil?"

She seemed to look at him. "He's great. He really enjoyed his time with Marie."

"Umm, Marie's an amazing woman. She was our-"

"Yeah, your nanny. You told me she used to take care of your brothers and you."

She remembered. He clicked his tongue. "Hmm."

"Why did you drag me here? Vera asked to meet you. There was no need-"
