*****Lisa Michaels *****
Dave's new private room was huge and a little less of a hospital room.  It seemed homey and comfortable despite it still being in a hospital.

It came to me as a surprise to find him complaining  to his mom about wanting to go home.

"Stop being a child!" His mom scolded while opening up the curtains to let in as much light as the two huge windows could.

"Lisa," he called once he noticed me standing uncertainly at the door.

When his mom turned to me with a surprised look, I took a step back and murmured a quiet "Hi."

I had hardly met her since the get together I'd stormed out of and my nerves were all over the place.

"Oh! Hi darling?" She greeted with a small smile and a cheery step as she walked to me, taking the small bag of fruits I'd brought with me. "How were your exams?" She asked while placing the bag on the little coffee table at the corner of the room.

Remembering the expression on my face when I saw my first exam paper I almost laughed but decided on a less lunatic way of conveying my inability to explain it and instead smiled before telling her it was just fine.

Dave's lips twitched as he watched but said nothing, instead motioning for me to come to him as his mom went around the room to collect her purse.

"You'll be just fine," she reassured me with a soft smile, her eyes trailing down to where his son's hand gripped mine absently as he drew circles on my back. "Dave, your dad will drop by after his meeting. I'll see you later as well."

Kissing her son's forehead, she gave my upper left arm a gentle squeeze before disappearing with a soft smile.

"You're a big softie." I teased Dave as he pulled me to sit on the bed.

"Do you have a problem with that?" He rose an eyebrow, playing with the baby hairs that had pulled away from my ponytail turned bun.

"Not really," I said, shaking my head to emphasize my response and he smiled gently at me.

"I really just want to get out of here and stay with you at home." He said after a beat and I watched as his eyes trailed his fingers' movement on my hair. "You keep me more calm than the drugs here."

"Is that a good thing?" I asked uncertainly and I laughed when he scrunched his nose up just for the sake of it.

"You could say so," he shrugged. "What plans do you have after your finals?"

"Dad wants me to move out of my apartment,  says it's too small and not spacious enough." I told and he listened patiently knowing there was more. "I don't want to move from Boston, and I know he's  not making me move but I feel like he'd prefer it more if I moved with him back to Mystery Woods."

"I hope you don't feel like you should stay because of me." Dave said gently, halting his finger movements to tilt my chin so that I could meet his eyes. "I don't want you to stop your life just because  of me. I'll follow you around if need be. Why don't you want to move?"

"Well, partly because I didn't want to do long distance," I motioned between us shyly and he encouraged me to continue with a smile and a small nod. "I'm also unsure of what I want to do after I graduate and I wanted to stay and figure it out."

"Have you talked to him about this?" He asked quietly and I shook my head. "Just be honest with him. He wouldn't force you to do something you don't want," he advised and I smiled  feeling a little uneasy about talking to my dad but still nodding to his words.

"Have you eaten?" I asked as an after thought and Dave shook his head. "What do you want to eat? I'll go look for something while I get my lunch."

"You haven't eaten?" It was his time to sound a little miffed by my revelation. "I'll get Paul to get us something," he said and reached for his phone. "Why didn't you tell me earlier?" He grumbled as he scrolled through his phone presumably for Paul's contact.

I watched him silently, taking note of how his face scrunched in concern as his eyes searched me while talking on the phone and when he asked me what I wanted to eat I replied with a "anything's fine."

I'd just began to stand up from the bed when he wrapped his hand around my wrist, cutting his phone call short.

"Where do you think you're going?" He suddenly jerked his hand backwards making me fall onto him.

"Dave!" I scolded feverishly when I narrowly missed hitting his left side with my elbow. Hurting him would do so many weird things to my mood and I couldn't even begin to imagine his own pain.  "Be careful. " I added softly.

"Something's bothering you," he stated while making room for me on the bed.

I was just about to refute his claim when he tucked me into  his arms and kissed the side of my head. "What's wrong?"

"I've just been feeling weird about us," his arms tightened around me and I took a breathe in. "Not in a bad way," I reassured,  "it's just a little hard getting used to the idea of me and you in a relationship.  I feel like I want this but I don't know how compatible we are."

"Do you need time to think things through before we go official?" He asked quietly, his hand playing in my hair.

"I —" for a second I let myself think, was time what I really wanted? "I want to be with you and I guess I'm just a little insecure when it comes to being around you."

"What are you talking about?" His voice sounded confused from beside me.

"You're like really famous and people will be looking at me and then at you and they'll be comparing and I just don't know how I feel about it." I told him almost in one breathe and I heard him huff before he tried to pull me down so that he was on top of me.

"Stop tearing yourself down. You and I both know you deserve more than this, the fear of being with me is just you trying to tell yourself not to give us a chance. Forget what people might say, do you really want us to be together?"

"Yes," I breathed quietly and he smiled down at me before pecking my cheek and laying back beside me.

"Then we'll be together," he affirmed with a small smile and a look that almost made me melt. "Now, go to sleep because I can see how tired you are. I'll wake you up when Paul drops off our food."

With a quiet  'thank you', I lay down on my side and pressed my back against his hard chest before closing my eyes and patiently waited for sleep to carry me through.
