"Stop!" the man roared, his face twisted with ruthlessness. "Keep Lao Tzu's money, or you won't even want to leave this casino!"
The people around them booed, showing contemptuous expressions.
Gu Yiling looked at him disdainfully and retorted, "What? If you're not skilled enough, you have to resort to robbery? I've never seen someone so shameless."
"You can stack Arhats. You pretended not to know anything and stole all my money!"
"When did I say I wouldn't gamble anymore? You came over and willingly gave me your money," Gu Yiling replied, spreading his hands innocently. "Imagine if I really didn't know how to gamble, I would have gone bankrupt today. And then, who would pay attention to me?"
He wasn't a gentleman or an angel. There was no need for him to pity those with ill intentions towards him.
The man huffed heavily, his eyes bloodshot with madness, and charged towards Gu Yiling.
"Stop! Fighting is not allowed in the casino! Violators will be thrown out!" A person who seemed to be a manager rushed over with three security guards upon hearing the commotion.
Gu Yiling glanced at the three guards behind the manager and, based on the original owner's memories, recognized one of them as Shen Junling.
Seeing him for the first time, Gu Yiling felt an immediate attraction towards him.
Shen Junling was tall, with perfect proportions and enviable long, straight legs. His nearly 190 cm height was incredibly impressive. He had a handsome face with sharp features-a prominent nose, thin lips, deep dark brown eyes that exuded calmness and indifference. His short, tousled hair added to his charm, and there was a faint reddish tinge at his earlobe, giving him a distinctive look.
He wore a plain white shirt and brown trousers, with the neckline unbuttoned, revealing a seductive hint of his collarbone and his tanned chest. The black tie loosely hanging on the white shirt gave off a casually stylish vibe.
Gu Yiling narrowed his eyes seductively and waved at Shen Junling with a smile, his curved eyes making one's heart race. He licked his lips subtly and observed Shen Junling intently. Damn, he wanted to sleep with him even more.
Shen Junling was taken aback by Gu Yiling's smile, and his heart skipped a beat. He had never seen such a dazzling teenager before. He felt that the teenager was somehow different from the original Gu Yiling, but he couldn't quite pinpoint what it was.
He whispered to the manager, "I know him. He's Gu Yiling, the young son of the Gu family. Help him this time."
The manager listened to his words, glanced at the young man a few times, and found that he exuded extraordinary charm. Having witnessed the incident, he quickly made a judgment, stared at the troublemaker, and said to the guards, "Kick him out, and he won't be allowed to enter again."
The man was dragged out amid the manager's scolding, and Gu Yiling used his mental abilities to implant a suggestion in the man's mind. In three hours, he would forget everything that happened here. The man was clearly reluctant, and it was highly likely that he would come back to cause trouble again. Although Gu Yiling wasn't afraid of trouble, it was better to avoid such incidents as much as possible.
Shen Junling approached Gu Yiling and said, "Come with me." He led him to a room on the second floor, gestured for him to sit on a chair, poured him a cup of tea, and asked, "Weren't you supposed
to pick up Chu Yuexin from school today?"
Gu Yiling's smiling expression turned cold, and he replied unhappily, "So the first thing you do when you see me is question me on behalf of Chu Yuexin?" At this time, the original owner and Shen Junling had a good relationship. It was only later, due to misunderstandings orchestrated by Chu Yuexin, that their relationship deteriorated and became irreconcilable.
Shen Junling averted his gaze and said, "She and I have known each other since childhood. I hope you can treat her better."
Gu Yiling stood up abruptly and smashed the teacup to the ground. The sound of breaking ceramic startled Shen Junling momentarily. He watched as the fair-skinned young man's cheeks flushed with anger, his eyes slightly squinted, and he laughed bitterly. "Shen Junling, examine your conscience. Am I not good enough for her?"
"During junior high, when she was bullied, who took the punches for her and ended up hospitalized with broken ribs for three months? Who stayed up all night to help her secure a limited edition album because she mentioned wanting it, and we waited in line together until the early hours? Who worked for three weeks with her mother to afford her current school tuition? Am I not good enough for her?"
"Think about it. How did she repay me? She used my name to intimidate the school, and when she got into trouble, she made me clean up her mess. It wasn't my fault that our relationship was strained in front of you. You never gave me a chance to explain!"
The boy's voice became hoarse, tinged with a hint of tears. His watery eyes glistened like fragile crystals. "You'll always have only her in your heart, and you'll never believe in me."
Shen Junling fell into deep thought upon being questioned by Gu Yiling. He had always been kind to Chu Yuexin. Although he couldn't provide her with as much as Gu Yiling could, he gave her everything he could. When Gu Yiling took a punch for her and ended up with broken ribs, he had single-handedly beaten up the group of thugs the next day, spending days in the hospital alongside Gu Yiling.
But how did she treat him? She only thought of herself when she needed him. She clearly knew his feelings but never reciprocated. She enjoyed his sacrifices without guilt. Sometimes, Shen Junling wondered if she truly brought him warmth during their childhood.
Gu Yiling took a few deep breaths, calming his emotions, and opened the door. "I'm going abroad next semester. I've rented a house next to yours. I wanted to create some good memories in these last few months." A tear rolled down the corner of his eye, and the young man's smile lost its brightness, appearing rather miserable and self-deprecating. "Now it seems I was just indulging myself."
As he disappeared from sight, Shen Junling's mind was in turmoil. The boy's teary eyes and forlorn smile kept haunting him, as if accusing him of his favoritism.
He didn't like teenagers, or rather, he disliked their arrogance and youthful perfection. He admitted to being jealous of them, as they always made him feel inferior. But what was wrong with the boy? He had genuinely considered him a friend, yet how had he been treated in return? If the boy hadn't confronted him today, would he have continued deceiving himself and causing him pain?
How had they reached this point in their relationship?
