"Look, if you don't clean your room today..." Sage paused, thinking about a condition for that.

"You are not my mom, and I told you yesterday, I'm going to clean it."

Michelle's gray walls' room was more than a mess. Over the bed she had just gotten up from, were school books, notebooks, and more books, crumpled written paper; on the floating floor, clothes she would just throw there, a sock she probably didn't know where the other pair was.

It was impossible for someone to step into that space when she was during the exam period. There was no fresh air, no space to walk, coffee cups whether on the bedside table or on the desk, cookies and bread crumbs...

On the other hand, the chamber was all decorated with anime items, pictures on the wall and ceiling, and the only area properly organized was Michelle's bookshelf full of mystery and thriller, action, classics, fantasy and sci-fi, horror, and Japanese manga, furthermore, more than twenty Funko Pop and action figures of anime characters.

The girl was seated on the chair in front of her desk describing a bad posture with her body covered with tattoos holding the okoume body Ibanez electric guitar. "By the way, what's lunch?" She asked, bending her head to see Sage standing with both hands on the waist.

"I'm not your cook!" The other girl closed the door thunderously.

"Dramatic..." Michelle sighed and, obliterating whatever happened, focused on the chords on the computer screen.

Meanwhile in the living room, Sage disputed the question her roommate had just asked.

Both girls would describe their relationship as one with different viewpoints and lifestyles but, despite that, they were best friends. Sage couldn't support Michelle's behavior, her irresponsibility, and negligence, however bookish. Maybe it was true that Sage would act like an overprotective mother that wouldn't allow her child to watch Tv after ten o'clock, but that's because she loved and admired Michelle. The coldness and indifference in Michelle would make her want to grab her friend by the shoulders and shake her body.

However, seeing from the outside, they were two similar girls who loved each other enough to be pleased by only contradicting each other. And so, they hated each other.

Mediterranean Chickpea Salad was the first dish that came to her mind. It's simple, fast to do, tasty, and healthy.

Michelle and Sage lived in this inexpensive and small, nevertheless charming, well-lighted, comfortable, and aromatic apartment - because Sage would walk around the house holding incense and light scented candles. In the living room, there were perceivable raw textures and exposed elements along with a particular flair for affordable, functional furniture, made of natural materials.

Sage started her summer morning routine by cooking breakfast, planning to work out later, and maybe practicing guitar. Before chopping ingredients for an omelet, the girl turned on the Tv and played one of her random playlists she would create with incredible easiness and creativity. Neither Sage nor Michelle could go through a normal day without music.

"What's with the loud music?" A few minutes later, Michelle, after checking her freelancer account, had left the room for her daily caffeine dose. Sometimes, when her heart would beat normally and her body would allow, she would work as a programmer, writer, and translator, not just to increase the money in her bank account but also to show some financial independence to her father.

She was wearing cotton black shorts just above her knees, exposing the hair on the long legs, with an extremely large black t-shirt. On her left, Sage was in front of the cooker, moving her body to the sound of some indie band. Her long box braids were drawn back into a messy coil, some falling on her shoulders. Michelle walked silently to the kitchen island and sat on one of the tall cushioned benches. She stayed a while overlooking the girl, without realizing the smile melting on her face.
