Nex left the cult when he was 14. In that four years, he's been hoping that Axel would come back home safe and sound. He was actually afraid for him, he strongly believed that Axel is in constant danger because he's out there when the true safe space is here...

Nex prayed for him to come back everyday. It never worked. So he decided to go look for him instead and... bring him back...? He's not very sure.
