She walked through the ship, large boxes left and right of her. She spotted Conrad looking at one of the boxes, a lighter in his hand. Once he spotted her, he turned it off.
"What are you doing down here?" he asked. "I could ask you the same thing. Why does a geological mapping mission need explosives?" she asked. The two of them started walking down the corridor.
"You weren't listening in class. Seismic charges for a geological survey." Conrad answered, his hands stuffed in his pockets. "Well, even when I was still in school I wasn't the type to listen. You believe what they said?" she asked.
He chuckled at her answer. "I didn't say that." he spoke. "Have you met Colonel Packard yet?" she wanted to know, already not fond of the man. "Yeah."
"The guy's wound pretty tight." she chuckled. "Well, the man's a decorated war hero. That's the package they come in. Your boyfriend must know him pretty well." Conrad said.
They stopped walking and were now facing each other. "Boyfriend? Oh, no. He's my brother. The other two are his friends." she explained. He nodded before looking at her.
"And you? Isn't shooting a mapping mission a step down for a photojournalist?" he asked. "The right photo can help shape opinions." she answered.
"And win you a Pulitzer." he said, smiling slightly at his own words. "Okay, Captain Conrad, what about you? How did British Special Forces get dragged into this?"
"Just Conrad. I'm decommissioned" he spoke. She hummed, expecting him to continue. "They offered me money." he said, shrugging slightly.
"You don't strike me as a mercenary." she frowned. "You don't strike me as a war photographer." he retorted. She smiled at him, sarcastically.
"Anti-war photographer. If you want to retort, you better get your facts right, Captain." she said, smirking slightly. "You're more feisty than I would have pinned you as." he chuckled.
She was about to say something, only to be interrupted by Cole. "Come on, Y/N, we wanna drink something with you! We haven't seen you in months." he called out to her.
She turned to Conrad. "It was nice talking to you, Captain." she smiled before walking up to Cole, leaving the stunned man behind. 'She's interesting.' he thought.
