The next day, the soldiers and civilians were standing on the deck of the ship. Mason and Y/N were taking pictures of the people around them, laughing at their antics.

Down on the streets by the Stogees was blaring through the speakers as Y/N sat down near Chapman, Mills walking up to the major. "What you writing there, Chap?" he asked.

"Letter to my boy." Chapman answered. "Hm. Dear Billy, I know I said I'd be home by your birthday, but I lied straight to your face. I'm a terrible dad. I hope this letter makes up for it." Mills joked.

Chapman frowned at him before chuckling. "That's too short." he retorted, making Mills laugh. Y/N looked around, spotting Conrad on a higher platform, looking over the ocean.

She waved at him and was surprised when he waved back at her, given how he was quite a distance away from her. She sat down next to her brother, who was sitting next to Mills, Cole and Reles, putting his arm around her shoulder.

Later on, she was walking to one of the helicopters with Mason. The two of them got along pretty well, which she was thankful for. Conrad was sitting in the helicopter they were supposed to be sitting in as well, blocking the entrance.

She waved him to move over, which he did with a smile and a small roll of his eyes. She sat down next to him, Mason sitting on her right.

The helicopters slowly started rotating their propellers, waiting to lift in the air on command. Slivko looked back at his older sister, who smiled at him, signaling him she was fine.

"This is fox leader to fox group. It is time, once again, for the Griffin and ants show. As usual, remember, hold onto your butts!" Packard said through the comms before the helicopters lifted into the air.

"Combat formation. Keep visual. Fox Five, let me know when you close." Packard ordered. "Fox Five in the slot." Cole answered through the comms.

"Roger that. Fox team, form up on me. Keep it together! Let's do this! Maintain course. Nothing we haven't done before." Packard said. They were flying towards the storm by now.

"Dear Billy, you ever looked into a hurricane and decide, 'Maybe I should fly straight through it?' because that's what's about to happen." Mills spoke through the comms.

"Dear Billy, you might wanna hang on." Cole said as the storm got more rough. Y/N had stopped to try taking pictures, she was solely focusing on not throwing up or falling out of the helicopter by now.

The alarm started blaring once they entered the storm and the helicopter seemed to lose control. Y/N gripped the sides of her seat tightly. Conrad could tell she was scared, and he was too, so she gripped her hand in his for support.

"Fox Leader to Fox Group. Switch to inertial navigation. And remember the story of Icarus, whose father gave him wings made of wax and warned him not to fly too close to the sun. But the exhilaration was too great, so he flew higher and higher until the sun melted his wings and he fell into the sea. But the United States Army is not an irresponsible father. So they gave us wings of white-hot, cold-rolled Pennsylvania steel. Guaranteed not to melt." Packard said right before they exited the storm safely.

Slivko turned around and laughed at his sister's face, who looked around in adoration. "Let's take them down, low and level." Packard ordered.

The two women laughed before taking pictures of their surroundings. Paranoid by Black Sabbath started playing right as some of the helicopters landed to start the survey.

Once they started dropping the explosives, Y/N shared a glance with both Mason and Conrad, the three of them not trusting the reasons for the usage of the bombs.

Suddenly, a tree flew towards one of the helicopters, crashing through the wind screen and killing all of the people inside. A huge hand grabbed another helicopter and twirled it around, dropping it on the ground before picking it up again.

A huge pair of eyes could be seen before the soldiers dropped right into a big mouth. Y/N looked forward, only to see a gigantic human-like figure emerge in the horizon.

Everyone seemed to be shocked by the huge creature

Everyone seemed to be shocked by the huge creature. "Is that a monkey?" Chapman asked through the comms. "It's an ape, idiot." Y/N mumbled, too stunned to think clearly, staring straight ahead.

The ape started roaring before the soldiers started shooting at it, making it even more angry. It punched one of the helicopters to the ground before going over to the next one.

"Pull out now, pull out!" Conrad screamed. "I don't take orders from you!" Slivko answered, obviously loyal to the Colonel. "Reg, are you stupid?! Pull out right now!" his older sister screamed back at him.

The soldiers continued firing while it attacked the helicopters, killing countless of men in the process. "Watch out!" Conrad yelled when a man flew straight in their direction, landing on the wind shield before being caught in the propellers.

The helicopter started going down, Y/N's grip on Conrad's hand tightening. She didn't even realize she was still holding his hand. "We're gonna crash! Brace!" Slivko yelled before the helicopter landed on the ground harshly.
