As the four of us headed back to the school campus, I saw Carrie and Scarlett giving me and Madeline suspicious glances. Scarlett had asked me what we were hiding, but I didn't tell. I didn't regret that. I wasn't going to betray Madeline after all the trust she had in me. The two girls were whispering to each other quietly but I heard them mention something about hiding and confronting us. I turned my head and saw Madeline texting again. After a while, Carrie cleared her throat and sighed.
"Madeline, Ava. We know you two are hiding something from us and we'd like to know what it is."
"Carrie, Scarlett. I'm sorry that I hadn't told you two this......My dad wants to pull me out of school next week and I'm trying to come up with a plan with Ava to convince him to let me stay in school." I stared at Madeline in disbelief, she just LIED!
I'm starting to think that Madeline is one of the enemy agents pretending to be the one that's saving everyone. How could she lie so easily? She was probably already trained in how to lie in the enemy's headquarters!
"Is that true, Ava?" Scarlett asked me.
I nodded dumbly. The two girls seemed satisfied with our answer. Suddenly, I felt my phone vibrate. I took it out and saw a message from Madeline, I looked at it confused, but clicked it open anyways. MadelineMika: Ava, what I just said was true, you know. It's not a lie, my dad thinks that this school is full of kids with filthy rich parents, and thought that all those kids do is party and don't study. Well, that was unexpected! I mean, Madeline's dad is right to worry, but they were also rich, so I don't get it. Don't they also do that kind of stuff? When we reached the academy, Madeline sped away with a notebook. Her excuse was that she's meeting up with Jasper and Melody to discuss some upcoming competition. I took this chance to ask Carrie why Madeline's dad would think the school is full of bratty kids.
Carrie shrugged, and said, "Maybe her dad wants her to study more. Her father is a professor of computer science at Stanford University, after all,"But, my parents want me to follow whatever I want to do, and they say they will always support me," she added.
Carrie's so lucky! She doesn't ever need to worry about money and what she will do, if she doesn't find a job, she can live very well on her parents' money! Scarlett is probably the same...... But, I have to worry about earning money for a living, and it's sometimes a bit embarrassing, like today when we went shopping, I couldn't afford anything that they bought.
