They were watching their crystal ball when the news went public. They saw Eda's face and nearly spit out the food they were eating.
"As of today, Edalyn Clawthorn or better known as Eda The Owl Lady has been officially captured by the Emperors Coven. She is to face petrifaction tonight at sundown." The reporter exclaimed.
They sat, looking at their food. Eda was going to die today...
They had to at least be there. They decided.
They watched as Eda was lifted in her beast form, eyes still the same wonderful golden color they remembered from so long ago. She was lifted in a cage, glaring down at the crowd of people cheering for her demise. This, was their sick and twisted form of entertainment here on the isles.
She looked like she hated the world and everyone on it. But then two more people were thrown in. They were soon announced to be none other than Lilith, and a dog like creature they had never seen before.
Eda looked furious at her sister and was shouting something at her that they couldn't hear over the shouts from the sociopaths surrounding them. They saw her raise her claws and almost swing before the creature stepped in. It said something that made her drop her clawed "hand". And then the petrification began. Eda jumped up in front of the creature and her sister. They heard her shouts of pain.
Someone else was lifted onto the stage holding Eda's staff. They looked like... a child? It was hard to tell. The person used some sort of magic foreign to them and engulfed the stature that preformed the petrification. The person disconnected it in some way with a vine. The next thing they now, Eda is flying away with Lilith, the stranger, and the other, much smaller creature.
They were both relieved and incredibly confused. They had emotionally prepared to watch her die today. But she hadn't. They went home walking silently. Thinking, as they always did when not doing something else, about Eda. Her lies still stung like fresh wounds. Their break-up was also forever fresh and long regretted in their mind. It was a necessity at the time, they couldn't scrap their feeling on being lied too. But, they have matured now, they understood why she would have lied. They understood how badly she wanted to protect them from her curse. They had been blinded by hurt and she had been blinded by the want to protect.
