Chuuya pov

I struggle to get to my feet. Damn, this guy is pretty strong. He must have had years of experience. I get to my feet slowly and look up just in time to see Dazai lunge for Akio. Akio neatly dodges.

"Your ability is too pesky to have around. I'll need to get rid of you." I hear him say. Get rid of him- Before my brain even processes the thought, Dazai is squirming, wrapped in electric whips, shocking him and tearing at his clothes. He screams in agony.

"Dazai!!" I shout, trying to help, help with my ability, help in any way. Dazai falls to the ground in a smoking heap. Akio turns to me.

"Now, should we finish this?" He asked. His bright smile has turned into an evil grin. I barely even process his words. Dazai. No, not Dazai, not Dazai. Anyone but Dazai. Kill me instead. Not him, not him. I feel rage swell up in my chest, so strong that it threatens to send me toppling over again.

"Asshole." I growl. I barely even recognize my own voice. "You're gonna pay for this. Say goodnight." Before I can even realize what I'm doing, I'm slipping off my gloves, summoning corruption. You're gonna pay for this, I'll make you pay-

"Grantors of dark disgrace, you need not wake me again."

Dark red lines swirl around my arms and face. The whole world, everything around me turns red. I don't know what I'm even doing anymore, I just need to destroy. Something, anything. I lunge for Akio, rage fueling me. You bastard, you're gonna pay, I'm gonna make you pay. He smacks me back with one of his goddam whips and I crash into the wall, but I barely feel a thing. Everything is a mess of red and black, I don't even know why I'm doing this anymore, just that I want to, I need to kill that man, make him miserable, tear him apart, limb by limb. I want to see his face when he screams.

I concentrate, letting a large ball of red energy materialize and grow slowly in my hand, and then hurl it at him. He tries to dodge, but it hits him anyway and he gets thrown into the wall on the other side of the room. Don't mess with gravity. I lunge for him again, flying across the room and punching him in the gut. He coughs, saliva coming out of his mouth. He staggers to his feet.

"You're a lot stronger than you look." He grimaces. He flicks his fingers, and long tendrils of electricity appear, dancing around the room and causing destruction everywhere. I dodge, and then lift him up with my ability. He splutters and struggles, but he can't get away. When I've raised him to a few feet above the top of the cavern, I fly up to him and punch him again, sending him spiraling back towards the ground. He hits it with a crunch and cracks appear all over the floor, shaking the room.

Good. You should be dead now. You have to be dead. This is what you get for... wait, what did he do again?

The world is still a mess of red, it's hard to see anything as I lower myself to the ground. What am I doing? Why? I look around frantically, my eyes finally landing on two people tied up by a doorway. There. They must have hurt him too, they have to go. Their eyes are wide and frantic, looking for a way to escape as I walk towards them, the ground crunching under my feet. Suddenly, a man staggers towards the two people and cuts them free with a knife. They dash out of the cavern to god knows where.

I glare at the man. Who dares... I know that person. I blink, torn between killing the man and not. My vision is getting blurry, I don't have much time left. All I see is red, red. Right. I have to kill him. I have to kill them all. I take a few weak steps towards the man, who is now leaning against the wall, holding himself up. I stop a few feet away from him. I know those eyes, I- before I can do anything he reaches out and cups my face with one of his hands, the other one on the wall.

A blue light appears, washing away all the red, pushing it out of my vision. The world comes back into focus and I collapse into the man's arms, both of us falling to the ground. I'm sitting in his lap, too weak to move or do anything. I blink up at him.

"Dazai?" I croak slowly. He looks back at me with his beautiful brown eyes, full of some emotion I'm too tired to figure out right now.

"Chuuya." He says, his voice thick. "I thought- I thought you." I shush him.

"I'm ok. I'm ok." I reply. "What even just happened."

"Well, that guy shocked me pretty bad so then you got all corruption and you beat him up pretty bad." He points with a shaky finger to a crater in the middle of the room where a man lies. It all comes back to me.

"Dazai- I- I think I might have tried to attack you, I'm sorry- I didn't mean to-" I blubber. God, I'm such an idiot.

"It's ok." He smiles at me, his eyes warm. "You saved me."

"No, you saved me, stupid." I say back. The exhaustion is suddenly seeping in, and I lay my head against his shoulder for support.

"Chuuya." he says suddenly.

"Mm?" I reply, closing my eyes. It's so comfortable here. I just want to sleep.

"I never got to thank you for the other day, you know."

"For what?"

"When I jumped off that building. When you saved me. Thank you for that. See, the truth is, after I left the mafia every day was horrible, I've only ever felt like myself around one person, every day is hard, every minute it's like I'm trying to be somebody I can never be and do a million things I know I'll never be able to do-"

"Please don't ever try to kill yourself again." I whisper, opening my eyes.

"Huh?"

"It scared me a lot, you know. The time after you left was hard on me too." His eyes widen. "If you die, it'll hurt me ten times more than you leaving did. Because- because I care about you, Dazai. A lot." I lift my eyes to meet his. "And if you ever feel like you're worthless, like nobody cares about you, don't. Because I do. I care. I care so much, Dazai."

I pause, searching his face. He's staring at me, his eyes full of light, his mouth almost quirked up.

"I wish that you'd never left. And I wish that we could spend more time together." I say. He looks down.

"You know, whenever I talk to other people, it's like putting on a costume." He says, fiddling with his hands. "But around you, I can just be myself. And I feel like myself." I can feel my eyelids starting to droop, I know I'm going to pass out soon. I have to do it now.

Dazai rambles on. "Cause, like, whenever I see you, it's the best part of my day, you're like the sun. And around you I'm-" but he never gets to finish his sentence because then I was kissing him and he was kissing me back our lips pressed together, his arms wrapping around my waist and my hands running through his hair, and it was just us, and everything else was melting away, it was just us, just the two of us in the whole wide world, sitting on the floor, kissing each other. And nothing else mattered because he was kissing me now, the person I love most in this world is kissing me right now, and I would do anything for him. I never want to let him go.

We broke apart. Dazai and I looked at each other, both a little surprised. His face was pink.

I mutter something like "Damn right I'm the best part of your day." and then the heaviness hits me. The last thing I see is his face, surprised and happy and

And then I pass out.
