2.Christmas Eve

The Potters manor
Christmas eve

It had been a week since the three of them had returned from Hogwarts. And everything was going well.
Cass was getting along with James and Remus, though still rarely saw them, they would go out a lot, with Peter. Go into town and hang out. So she was left alone with her Parents a lot though she didn't mind. They where in her opinion anyway some of the best parents she could have. Euphemia would get her to come bake biscuits and cakes for the party's they would throw, and Monty would teach her Quidditch. She was getting quite good now and was hoping to join the team next year. She would have a good chance to if James got Captain.

It was Dinner time, on Christmas Eve which meant, yep Chinese take out why, no one knows it had just sort of become a tradition over the years. Peter had stayed for dinner two as he claimed he wasn't going to be eating his mothers soup again for the 4th time that week.
Remus seemed distant today, constantly staring off at things and made little to no conversation at Dinner.

"Is he okay?" Cass whispered to James as they were sat around the fire place. Peter has just left and they were just about to start a game of exploding snaps.

"I think it because it Christmas eve, you know probably just hit him"

she nodded and tried to not stare at the mousy haired boy for to long.

Over a Grimmauld Place, Christmas Eve was happening very differently to the potter cosy night in.
The annual Blacks ball was in full spring. The great dinning hall was decorated beautifully and everyone was dressed in immaculate dress robes. This including the two Black brothers. Sirius Black and his younger brother Regulus.

They were sat in there usual places at the vast dinning table, waiting patiently for there food to be brought out. The room was packed with family member's distant and close, with friends of their parents, as well as some scary looking Men they had never seen before.

Sirius was sat next to his cousin Bellatrix who was in a deep discussion with one of these very men. He was trying hard, straining his ears to hear what they were talking about. To his right his brother was in a Conversation with his other cousin Narssica who was talking about her new husband Lucius.

The dinner was boring and long, and Sirius was finding it harder and harder to keep pretending. His brother however wasn't he was seeing now how he didn't even need to pretend anymore; he fitted in with these pure bloods like, like well like he was suppose to Sirius thought. Sirius couldn't stand it anymore, and as everyone was leaving to enter the ballroom he snuck off upstairs.
But just as he reached the first step there was a grab at his shoulder.

"Sirius where are you going silly cousin the dance is this way" came the sheering voice of Bellatrix

"Bella i'm not in the mood, pls just let me go"

"Now now cousin, i'm sure your parents wouldn't want their heir to not attend the famous dance, anyway i'm sure there are some people" she dragged him around and pointed at a tall slim looking man "who would like to make your acquaintance"

Sirius already knew what that meant, he pulled back, as Bella dragged him toward the hall.

"Seriously let go, fucking hell, this time last year you didn't give a crap what i did; what's changed!" he demanded

"your mummy, made it my job to show you the right side" she smiled sickly "she thinks you've been corrupted, but i promised i could soon get it out of you"

Sirius felt his stomach drop, he tried to resist more but there was no use her tight little nails where now digging into his arm.
Just as they were nearing the entrance Sirius kicked Bella in the shin and quickly turned back towards the stairs.

"Oh you little shit!" she wailed falling to the ground, firing a spell towards him.
"Aunt Walburga" she yelled, causing everyone in the party to turn towards her and Sirius.

That's when he froze turning to see the Look in his mothers eyes as she came striding towards them, pure anger and hate spreading quickly across her face. She picked Bella off the ground, snapping at her sharply for making a scence. He was still stood completely frozen to the spot as he saw everyone including his scared looking brother watch them.

"What is the meaning of this child" she question Bella who was looking anxiously between his mother and him.

"I..I... he was defining our ways aunty, he said he wouldn't swear allegiance" she finally said giving an evil smile towards Sirius.
Sirius felt the anger and fear swell in his stomach how had she just said that all he wanted was to get out of there to prevent this from happening.

"is that so" Walburga hissed
Then she turned to her guest who were all still watching most murmuring about what Bella had just said. She looked at the cloak on the wall and then announced.

"I'm sorry but it is getting late now, so anyone who is not saying the night please may they kindly leave, looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow"
And with that only Orion, Regulus, Narcisa and her family and Bellatrix where left.

Then Walburga suddenly grabbed her son by the arm and dragged him into the upstairs office, Regulus and Orion following in suit. Regulus was locked out the room. They turned Facing Sirius who seemed very small now.
