Chapter 16: Lonely Traveler

Link's PoV

Wandering into the stable I pay the fee for a bed. The guilt of getting (y/n) hurt with my own negligence and carelessness forever flooding my mind.
I take of my boots and bag and place my bow onto the floor, leaning it against the bed

Laying for too long before falling asleep I give up and go for a bit of fresh air

???: "trouble sleeping?"

I turn to see an old woman sitting by a cooking pot making herself some stew

"Not used to being alone"

Woman: "you aren't alone, are you?"

"I am now.. I had a partner who was.. never mind"

Woman: "as a traveler myself I know how it can feel when you miss those you love"

"Oh I wouldn't say I love (y/n).. he is just a friend"

Woman: "you care for him, do you not?"

"Y-yea.. did I do the right thing leaving him? I don't wanna put him in danger again"

Woman: "last time we met. You saved me, and it seemed you both were in danger."

"Y-you were the woman! With the paraglider"

Woman: "that is me yes"
She chuckles to herself

Woman: "if you think about it from (y/n)'s perspective. You put yourself in danger together, meaning you have each other. Now you are both alone"

"Oh he's at Zora's domain.. I.. I messed up and he got hurt. They are watching over him for me"

Woman: "but if you get hurt. How would he feel?"

"I doubt he would care.. it's all my problem after all"
I remember his outburst from earlier

Memory

(Y/n) threw my metal weapon at a moblin before lightning struck it. He clearly was frustrated by the events that lead up to this point that he just snapped

(Y/n): "You may have once been the legendary hero but you aren't invincible! I mean thanks to the last time you tried you had to wait 100 years for me to step in and sort out your mess!"

Memory over

Woman: "why would he not care? He stuck by your side for a reason did he not?"

"Not like he had much choice.. I was his only chance to get home"

Woman: "you both are in unfamiliar territory. I can see in your eyes you feel lost. Go back to him, patch things up. Then who knows. You might both find where you need to be"

"I.. I just need some time first"

Woman: "I shall let you rest up. You will need it Champion"

Your PoV

I snap awake and spring up into a sitting position. I am in Zora's domain still. In a bed with my things in my bag at the foot of the comfortable furniture.

"Link? Sidon?"
I look around to see nobody in the room. My eyes wander around the room until they land on my clenched fist. I open my hand to see the green gem from my dream laying on my palm

"It was real?.. Mom.. Dad.."
I ponder going home for a few moments before thinking

Link.. where is he?

Sidon: "You are awake! How do you feel?"

"My left side aches a little but I'll live. Have you seen Link?"
