It has been around 3 days total of traveling with Daniel and Violet. This morning consisted of the same as yesterday

Training in the morning, long walk, stop to eat then continue

Even with the exact same start, we keep our heads held high. During our sparring session, Daniel offered to teach me to use other weapons such as swords. Firstly he said if I was to use a spear I need more protection since I can't use a shield with the spear. The solution was easy, he gave me metal braces for my forearms. They feel light yet are incredibly tough.

Right now we are walking through fields of green grass. Hyrule fields is usually quite a dangerous place but so long as you stay away from the castle you should be safe from the guardians. To avoid the castle we had to go down the path that leads us more south west then turn to go straight west towards the Great Plateau.

But for now a small break. During our break Daniel watches the wildlife with a calm smile

Daniel: "do you have a horse?"

"No. Link has Epona but I don't have one for myself"

Daniel: "well here is our chance, over there look. See one ya like?"

"Wow.. they look so majestic from here.. but how do I.. ya know"

Daniel: "tame it? I'll show you"

Daniel moves his things off of his horse's back.. I did mention he has his horse, the steed has a black coat of hair with a white mane and white around the face and feet. Her name being Mary, named after his aunt whom cared for him in his younger years.

Daniel: "so for a wild horse they will try to buck you off. So you will need to hold on tight. But here is how you get up"
He goes to one side of Mary and jumps up pushing himself higher with his hands while swinging his leg around Mary's other side so he is sitting on her

Daniel: "you try with Mary first"

"O-ok. It that simple huh?"
I get into position before doing my best to get up

Daniel: "do a little hop before pushing up, otherwise you alert the horse by pressing it's back, oh and try swinging to leg over while pushing yourself up"

On my second attempt I almost manage but my leg falls short of it's target causing me to fall to the ground

Violet: "almost!"

She says to cheer me on.

After a few attempts I get the hang of it and even hold on gently to try moving around. Steering was the most nerve wracking part yet I seem to be able for the most part.

Daniel: "you ready?"

"I guess. So just sneak up beside it and maybe give it an apple or something?"

Daniel: "try just sneaking at first, then use apples as bait and a distraction."

"Sounds simple. Would could possibly go wrong"
I say in a forced confident yet sarcastic tone

Violet: "if you hurt yourself I will heal you okay"
She says reassuring me. Despite the obvious expectation that I will fail it does help a little with my confidence

Slowly and low to the ground I scout out a horse I have a good feeling about. That one!

I find a nice fully black horse with a white spot around it's eye and a white mane. It seems distracted by the grass it is grazing on. It looks up a few times but I just slow down further and stop. If I make another noise it will likely spot me and escape
