Chapter 22: so.. partners?

The past few minutes have felt like hours. Me and Link finally are reunited.. yet the problem is that neither of us know what to say.

"...."
I go to speak up but no words come out

Link: "...."
Turns and opens his mouth for a moment as if he is about to talk.. but just sighs and turns away

We have been sitting at a table in the corner for so long that some of the nice stable staff offered us some food to warm up

"..ok this is ridiculous.. we need to talk"

Link: "about how you snuck out of Zora's domain and risked your life to come here?"
He mumbled out in frustration

"About you leaving me alone. Do you just not have faith in me or something?"

Link: "no it's not that.. I just.."

"Don't think I can handle myself? It's fine if you think so just admit that you do"

Link: "I can't lose you a second time! You saved my life and it almost cost you yours.. I.. *deep breath* I can't let you get hurt from my stupidity"

".. look.. I appreciate the concern for my safety. I really do.. but please.. just let me try to help"

Link: "but.."

"I'm serious.. I've missed you by the way. Being alone was the worst thing to happen to me since I came to Hyrule"

Link: "I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to make you feel abandoned.. I just wanted to-"

"Protect me? I know.."

Link: "so.. regardless.. you make it here alone?"

"Not exactly"

I sit and tell Link about the journey I took to get here.

"So yeah that's how I got here.. and how I helped Violet get home"

Link: "so this Daniel? From kakariko trained you how to fight better?"

"Well more like just helped me practice, gave pointers and sparred. If anything movies, games and even you taught me"

Link: "what's a movie?"

"Doesn't matter"

Link: "I'm going to Rito village in not long.. you are staying here out of harms way"

"No. WE are going to Rito Village to appease the Devine beast. Together"

Link: "b-but"

"No buts other than yours accepting that I am going too"

I get out of my chair and stretch. Grabbing our empty plates Link says -

Link: "you know it could be quite cold up there"

"You still have the warm doublets right?"

Link: "yeah. But still, you are sure you won't rather wait here for me?"

"Honestly. I think it is safer to stick together, I mean anything can happen in the Devine beast and you'd be all alone. While here who knows if the yiga clan, those cultists or monsters would just show up"

Link"I guess you are right about that.."

"What was that? I didn't hear you"

Link: "you are right. Such a clever girl"
He stifles a laugh

"... you just made a reference by accident. So I'll let it pass.. just this once ok"

Link: "I made a reference? Was it a good one?"

"I'd say so, I love the Jurassic Park movies. I'll show you them some day"

Link: ".. damn.. I missed this.."

"Huh? Missed what?"

Link: "you. Me.. traveling together.. I missed you"

"I missed you too blondie, now we should get going, see if they got any cool shops to get more supplies. The paraglider is made by the Rito right?"

Link thinks for a bit then gives an answer

Link: "it is their symbol I think, so I assume they do"

"...you recon they did it because they were too lazy to fly them some hylian decided 'that would help us non-bird people get around' so they had to make more and couldn't use them"

Link: "what?"

"Well if they were to glide their wings probably won't get so tired, and since hylians can't fly I guess that they just sorta pretended that's what the paragliders are for"

Link: "you think the koroks might have initially used them to do devious pranks on people"

"Devious round green bois"

Before long me and Link are laughing together telling each other silly conspiracies when a red puff of smoke appears and out comes some small ribbons with the yiga symbol on it

???: "neko.. I have been tasked to take you in. Hero.. I'd kill you where you stand but-"

He dodges a slash from a furious Link

"What do you want with me?"

Link: "you won't take him away from me. He is under my protection"
He adds the last part rather quickly out of embarrassment

???: "then force it is"
They pull out a blade and slash at us causing the wind to shape like a giant cut that throws us backwards

???: "see you soon .. neko..heheheh"
And with that they are gone

Link: "uugh.. are you ok?"
He groans out

"I think so.. (gasp) he took it!"

Link: "took.. what?"

"My pendant.. he stole it! We have to get it back.. it's super important"

Link: "I promise. We will get it back. Let's change our plans. We go to the stable, ask around for where their hideout is then we infiltrate it"

"O-ok.."

He grips my hand reassuring me

"I'm fine.. (deep breath) let's go"

One of the stable workers inform us that the Yiga Clan's main hideout is located in the gerudo highlands.

Link: "let's go to the gerudo Devine beast while we are there.. may as well"

"Alright.. but do we have supplies for the desert?"

Link: "not the only issue.."

"What's wrong?"

Link: "apparently there is some big important rule about Gerudo Town but the stable guy won't tell me.. said you should be alright but not me"

"So you can't go without me then? Good thing I found you before you tried, huh?"

Link: "so... we um.. partners again?"

"Partners again"
We attempt to make our own secret handshake.. neither of us knew what the other was going to do making it pretty awkward. Giving up we just do a hug with a pat on the back

"Let's never speak of that again"

Link: "agreed"
