Healing Hearts (Gus x Matt)

~chapter 3~

⚠️tw for slight violence! Dont read if you dont like to deal with anything that has to do with violence.⚠️ it isn't that serious of violence but please don't read if it triggers you.

Gus POV:

Yesterday my mom moved out of the house. My parents have been going through a long divorce, and it's been awful listening to them argue and yell for the past 2 years. That's why I don't want to deal with anyone today. I decided that I'd just be quiet all day, it's kind of my go-to when I get upset, I don't want to accidentally vent to anyone or say something that will make them upset.

Before the school day started i passed Willow a note telling her i didnt feel like talking today. Anytime someone would ask if i was ok she'd tell them to leave it alone (shed say it nicely though). The day goes by in a blur, the next thing I know I'm walking home. I text my dad that there's an HAS meeting after school and that I'd be home later. I lied, I just didn't want to be home, so instead I walked over to the park and just sat on a swing.

I hear footsteps and quickly wipe my eyes to make sure that whoever it was didnt see I was bothered. I look over and it's Boscha walking towards me. "Shit" I say to myself. I know she's going to beat me up, anytime she sees me out of school she does. She grabs my shirt collar so I can't move. I just stand there, accepting what's gonna happen. She raises her fist and punches my face, my nose starts to bleed. Then she tosses me to the ground and walks off. My head snapped back and hit the swing when I fell. I got really dizzy. I sit there on the ground, holding my nose to try and stop the bleeding. I get a feeling of my surroundings again and decide that I should try to go to one of my friends for help. I start to head over to Willow's house when I bump into someone. And wow, would you know what? It was Mattholomule, "great" I said. He just looked at me in complete shock, I wondered why but then I remembered what happened at the park just a bit ago. Before I can run away he grabs wrist, it kinda hurt. He instantly let's go but says "....um- my sister is in the healing coven- I can see if she can help you... only if you want to though. I know I haven't been the nicest and-" he noticed he was rambling and stopped, he looked embarrassed and looked down at his feet. "Sure, I'd be fine with that" I said, he looked back up and smiled a bit, I was just trying to be nice. I never realized how awkward he was, hmm.

I started spacing out, then I heard him say, "umm- ..Agustus?" I snap out of my thoughts "oh yeah- sorry" Titan, why am I so awkward.

Matt's POV:

I was walking back from school when I bumped into Agustus. He said, "great" ouch, that kind of hurt. I look at him to apologize and- Holy shit, what happened to his face?? His eyes get wide and he looks like he's going to cry, he starts to turn to run off but I grab his wrist to stop him. I let go almost instantly though, I hope I didn't hurt him.. He turned around and kind of just stared at me, and for some reason I felt my face heat up. So I said "umm- my sister is in the healing coven and... well- I could take you to my house to see if she'd help you- ...... only if you wan to though. I know I wasn't the nicest the first time we met and-" oh shit, im rambling. I quickly stopped talking and looked down at my feet. I heard him say "Sure, I'd be fine with that" and I snapped out of my thoughts. I looked back up at him. I noticed I was smiling and put my hands over my mouth, Titan- I hate my smile. I realized he was spaced out again so I tried to get his attention. "Agustus?" No response, "Hey, Agustus?" Still nothing, "Gus?" Why isn't he answering? I tap his shoulder "Umm- ...Agustus??" He snapped back and looked at me "oh- I'm sorry" he said, his face got red in embarrassment. "Oh- it's fine, no need to say sorry. Umm, my house is this way- so we should probably head there so I can ask my sister to help you out..." He half smiled and kept holding his nose, which seemed to be bleeding less so that was good at least.

We were walking over to my house, and it was really quiet. After minutes of awkward silence I asked "if you don't mind me asking- what exactly happened? That's some pretty serious damage.. you dont have to answer if you don't want to- that's your business and I don't want to pry- it just might help to know what happened so that my sister can help as much as she can- and- *sigh* -im sorry, I don't know why I'm rambling. I'll stop talking now..." Titan, what is wrong with me. Why am I like this.

He starts to talk, his voice is a little shaky but he still manages to speak somewhat clearly. "Well, I was at the park.... and- well- someone came by and beat me up..." Why would someone beat up Agustus? He hasn't even done anything bad to me- and I was horrible to him the first time we met. "Who was it?" I asked. "I dont really want to say- it might make things worse if they found out I told anyone-" he said. "Oh- I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry... um anyway, my house is right here on the left." He gave another half-smiled and nodded. I got out my keys and unlocked the door, "Hey Cora! I need you to help with something!" I yelled, she's normally in the basement messing with potions and stuff for her classes. I lead Agustus into the bathroom to get him some tissues to help with his bleeding nose.

Gus POV:

Cora came in and looked kind of shocked. "Let me go grab my kit" and without another word she left. She came back a minute-or-so later with a kit in her hands. "That's a pretty nasty bruise you have there, how'd this happen exactly?" She said getting the stuff out of her kit. I nudged Mattholomule signaling him to tell her. "He got beat up by someone.." Cora was kind of stunned, "Whoever this is has quite the punch, they did some serious damage. Your nose seems to be broken and there are quite a few bruises.. Can you tell me what exactly hurts?" She asked me. "Well- my nose hurts, my face is pretty sore, and my head hurts like crazy." "Hmmm, well- I'm done patching up your nose, it'll take some time to heal completely. Let me go grab something for your head though, I'll be right back." She left the room, I put my head between my knees in attempt to ease my dizziness. I felt really woozy and sore. Then I remembered my dad- "hey Matt.... can you text my dad and tell him I'll be at Wilows house for a bit?" "Oh, sure."

I unlocked my phone, opened up my dad's text and handed him my phone. "Oh- just pretend you're me amd tell him im at Willows house, he worries too much about me so I don't want him to know anything is wrong."

Matt's POV:

I texted Gus's dad about "Willows", He replies quickly, "he says ok. And to be home before dinner." "Ok" Gus replied pretty lazily, his head was nodding off. Wow, he isn't feeling too good- huh. "Hey, I got the stuff for your head" Cora said. She entered the room with a bottle of purple liquid in her hand. She handed Gus the bottle, he looked up and grabbed it slowly. He drank the potion and my sister left the room. "Tell me when he feels better, okay Matty?" My face burned, why did she call me that infront of him, I told her not to call me that around people! Gus looked at me and gave another half-smile. "Hey- how about we get you upstairs, the bathroom floor probably isn't the most comfortable" He nodded and tried to stand up but sat back down with his hands keeping his balance. I walked over and helped him up. We slowly made our way up the stairs and into my room. He sat down infront of my bed, still looking really out of it. "Thanks" he said, "oh- uh, no problem... I wanted to try and make up for the um..... incident- the first time we met. I... was a huge jerk and I'm really sorry-" he smiled back at me. "Oh, um- I'll get you a pillow so you can rest your head for a bit" I walked over to my closet and grabbed a pillow. I laid it next to him. He laid down the pillow and almost immediately passed out, I kinda feel bad for him. Why would someone do that to Agustus?
