Healing Hearts (Gus x Matt)

~chapter 45~

3rd person pov:

3 months have passed.

Luz rushes through the door screaming. "IFIGUREDITOUTGUYS!WECANWAKEEVERYONEUPNOWANDEVERYTHINGCANBENORMALAGAIN!!" She blurts happily.

Everyone's heads shoot towards Har as they quickly stand up.

"WHAT?!" They all exclaim in excited unison.

"YEAH! JUST FOLLOW ME" she exclaims as she bolts out the door.

Without taking a second to think, the 5 teens follow their friend. Luz seems to be running at the speed of light, which makes it hard for everyone else to keep up. They gasp for breath as they stagger behind her.

After running for what seemed like forever, they stop on top of a platform. This platform is the exact one where Emperor Belos gave his speech on the day of unity.

The 5 teenagers lean against each other as they desperately try to get air into their lungs.

Luz, on the other hand, is already busy at work making the glyphs on the platform.

She finishes up the last glyph and stands back with an accomplished look on her face.

Suddenly, the glyphs materialize into tiny orbs of golden light.

The orbs clump together gracefully untill they become as large as the sun in the sky. The huge mass of light floats up into the sky.

The massive orb explodes and sprinkles the whole island in a magical snow-like golden powder.

All of a sudden, Matt bolts down the stairs. He skips multiple steps at a time as he leaps from stair to stair.

Gus calls after him and quickly follows, not wasting any time to catch up to him.

Matt's pov:

They have to be there. They have to be awake. I don't know what I'll do if they aren't. What will happen to me if we can't get them awake?

Matt's mind races as he dashes along the curvy streets of the island.

Gus calls out for him but he doesn't hear.

Tears threaten at the corners of his eyes as he staggers to his home, heaving for air.

He turns on his street, almost slipping from the sharp turn. He bolts down the street and right up to his house.

He reaches his front door and stops.

What if they're not awake? What if something even worse happened to them? What if they're dead?

Matt's whole body begins to shake violently as he breaks down. Gus turns the corner and runs to comfort him. "Hey, hey, it's alright. Can you please tell me what happened? I tried calling for you but you didn't respond" Gus pleads, slightly put of breath.

Matt can't function. He clings to Gus' arm as his whole body shakes. He shakes his head back and fourth to try to tell Gus he can't tell him right now. Gus seems to understand and holds Matt a little bit closer.

"Okay, Matt. I need you to try something for me, okay?" Gus calmly whispers. Matt nods his head.

"Okay, good." Gus starts, "First, I need you to take 5 deep breaths. Can you do that?"

Matt nods his head as he tries to take some deep breaths. He manages to take a few shaky ones, but it's already starting to calm him down.

"Good," Gus whispers again, "now I want you to name 4 things you can see. Okay?"

Matt nods his head and looks around. "Um, I see..." he mutters shakily, "you... my door... trees... and... my shoes, i guess."

"Good. Now, name 3 things you can hear" Gus says softly.

"Umm," Matt looks around and tries to listen to what's around him, "the leaves rustling... my voice... and... you."

Gus laughs a little at the last one, but doesn't take his attention away from Matt. "Okay," he starts again, "now name 2 things you feel"

"That one is easy," Matt answers with a slight smile, "I feel my clothes, and I feel you" he mumbles while leaning towards Gus, placing his head on his shoulder.

"Okay, last one; Take 1 more deep breath, okay?" Gus calmly whispers with a small smile.

Matt takes a deep breath.

"There, you did it" Gus encouragingly chirps as he places a small kiss on Matt's cheek. "Now, can you please tell me what happened?" He asks.

Matt nods his head and takes another deep breath. "Well, I don't know exactly. But when I placed two and two together, I realized that the spell would wake up my family, if it worked. I raced back here and when I got to the door, my brain was flooded with bad thoughts. I broke down from all the stress I guess, I don't really know. But that thing you did really helped, surprisingly." He explains.

Gus gives him a sad smile, "I really love you. You know that right?"

"Yeah, and I love you too"

Matt opens the door, Gus at his side. He opens the door cautiously and sees his family sitting on the couch.

"CORA!!" He screams, running to his sister and wrapping his arms around her as happy tears stream uncontrollably down his face.

"Matty?! How is your hair so long? What happened?" She asks, confused.

Matt let's go and says, "I'll tell you all later, I promise. I just missed you guys so much."

He wraps his arms around his mom and brother, who both have confused looks like Cora's. Everyone just decides to shrug it off for now as all 3 of them wrap Matt in a warm hug.

"Come here Gus" Matt adds, holding out his hands.

Gus laughs and joins them, the warmth making the two finally feel whole again.

Of course, their hearts had both been through hell and back ooverthe past 2 years, and tthere wasno point in denying it.

But now that everything is going back to normal, they can finally let their hearts heal.

(End scene)

ITS DONE!!!!

I didn't expect to end the book today, honestly.

I'm sad to say that this book is over though. But I'm going to start another one that I already have an idea for.

Things haven't gotten better for me mentally, (it's only been a day since I posted last so obviously there wouldn't be much of a change) but I don't want that to stop me from writing. Of course, I won't push myself to do what I can't, but I will try to write the next book better!

I won't end up rewriting the previous chapters because it just takes too long, so sorry about that.

I am so incredibly grateful for all of you guys who have supported me with this book. My first book.

I love you all so much, see you in the next book!
(It'll be called Mr. Melancholy)
