Matt's pov:

Once everyone had woken up, they all stated talking at the table. They had bombarded Matt with questions, and he answered most of them even if he was really uncomfortable the whole time.

"So, what happened to everyone?"
"I'm not all that sure actually..."
"What did you do for the whole year?"
"Not much, reading, practicing new kinds of magic... boring stuff."
"Do you know if anyone else is awake?"
"Umm, only one other person I know of, but I'll never talk to them."

Then Gus cut in and said, "Hey, I know we need to figure out what's going on and stuff. But we shouldn't bombard him with questions, im sure it was all really traumatic and I don't think he wants to talk much about it."

Matt sighed a little in relief. He was more than happy to help them figure out how to fix whatever had gone down, bit he didn't expect to be hit with tons of questions.

Everyone else apologized, "I'm so sorry, that must've seemed so insensitive. I'm so so sorry." Luz apologized profoundly. "It's fine. But Gus is right, I don't know if I'm ready to talk about.... everything quite yet." Matt explained awkwardly.

Quickly, everyone else moved onto a different topic and became wrapped up in that. Matt glanced at Gus and mouthed the words "Thank you". Gus nodded back and smiled.

Later that day, around lunch time, Gus and Matt agreed to have a picnic. It was only just outside the owl house since neither of them felt like walking all the way to their pathway, but they were both fine with that.

They were both sitting on the blanket eating sandwiches. They didn't decide on a main thing to talk about, instead they ended up talking about all sorts of random things.

Matt felt a pit in his stomach. He remembers how he used to do things like this with Cora. He used to do a lot of things with Cora.

Noticing his sudden drop in mood Gus asks, "Hey, is everything okay?" "Not really, but I'm glad you're here." Matt admitted, holding Gus' hand. Gus smiled at Matt reassuringly.

"Anyway, we should probably head inside, It looks like its going to rain." Matt said quickly. "Oh yeah" Gus said, "I didn't think much of it untill I remembered that rain is different on earth. We should hurry."

With that being said, the two of them pick up their stuff and rush inside. They find everyone else at the table, discussing what they can do to wake everyone up. When the two of them walk in, they all smile and welcome them back.

"Hey Matt, I know you said you didn't want to talk much about what happened- and I totally get that- but can you atleast tell us a little bit? We need to get started on finding a solution to all of this." Luz asked nervously.

Well- you're going to have to talk about it eventually.... just tell them a little, and if it gets too overwhelming just leave. Ok, that sounds good. Yeah.

"Um, sure. What exactly do you need to know?" He asks, sitting down on a nearby chair.

Luz smiles nervously and says, "I need to know what happened before everyone fell asleep. It just doesn't make sense with the draining spell he used and why they're all unconscious."

Matt tenses up. He tries to take a deep breath and calm himself down, but it doesn't work that well. He takes a second and tells them what happened in as little detail as possible.

"Um, well- after the emperor gave his speech and stuff, everyone started screaming. It wasn't a fangirl kind of scream, they were all screaming in pain. After maybe a minute-or-so, they all fell unconscious and fell to the ground.... that's...... that's all."
