Ah yes, Cavalry Captain of the Knights of Favonius.

Y/N had heard many things about Kaeya growing up. Tales of a 'handsome young boy, skilled in hand to hand combat, a master at wooing ladies with his charming looks and clever words.' From what she remembered he was about three years older than her, Y/N also recalled having a massive crush on the boy when she was about fifteen after seeing his picture in a paper once or twice.

Little did the girl know that the Captain also had a little thing for her. Kaeya had always heard stories of a beautiful girl, afraid of nothing. There was no commission she wouldn't take, no quest too difficult. He had seen her aplenty in newspapers, she was after all, the best adventurer in Liyue. A familiar feeling was lurking in the Captains stomach.

Butterflies.

The man was slightly irked in all honesty. Usually women were all over him, fawning over his looks and doting over his manners, and yet, here was this girl, whom he had been enamored with for some time, not showing him anything more than a friendly interest.

"I must say Captain, I've heard many good things about you growing up. To become the Cavalry Captain of the Knights of Favonius at only eighteen! I can only imagine what an honor it must have been."

Kaeya swallowed thickly when Y/N called him captain, he felt a fire spark in his lower regions and he desperately tried to compose himself.

"Please, call me Kaeya," He started, secretly hoping she would call him captain again, "You flatter me so Miss L/N. However you need not be in awe at my achievements, when yours are no mean feat. By only seventeen you had completed over one hundred commissions, that truly is amazing, and then there's also the time when Fatui Agents swarmed the Golden House and you single handedly defeated every one of them. You are a lot more than a pretty face Miss L/N, ladies as unique as yourself are a rarity these days."

At this point Y/N was a blushing mess. The girl had forgotten about that incident at the Golden House nearly two years ago. She barely made it out alive, but she wasn't going to tell Kaeya that.

"Call me Y/N, Kaeya, there's no need for formalities!"

Kaeya has to resist frowning when she called him by his name and not his ranking.

"Well then Y/N, could I interest you in a drink?" The man smirked.

Y/N let out a small giggle and nodded, "Indeed you could Captain."

The girl was no fool, she saw him squirming in his seat when she called him by his ranking before, and she noticed the disappointment on his face when she called him by his name, so she figured, why not have a little fun. That was why she was here anyways, for a little break. And after all, maybe Kaeya could help her loosen up a bit.

Kaeya smirked, 'she knows exactly what she's doing.' He ordered a round of drinks for the two of them. 'Tonight will be interesting.'

It was now the early hours of the morning. A quarter to two to be exact. Y/N and Kaeya had retired to a couch as the girl had almost fallen off her stool not long ago, due to her drunken state.

Y/N was always careful with how much alcohol she consumed, but tonight she decided to let loose. No harm would come from it she figured so why not?

And that was how, she found herself straddling the Cavalry Captain with her face buried in the nook of his neck. He smelled of eucalyptus and whisky, a strange mix, but it was addicting.

"You smell nice." She giggled, her cheeks rosy from the amount of drink she had consumed. That being said however, she was happy, Y/N felt like she was on a cloud. All the background chatter in the tavern seemed far away, and she could only hear Kaeya clearly.

"Why thank you Girlie."

She froze for a moment.

Even Kaeya, who was also very far gone noticed her stiffen up. Then she pulled her head back to look into the Captains navy blue eyes. To her relief it wasn't who she thought it was.

"What did you say Captain?" She slurred, almost sure she was imagining it because of how drunk she was.

"I said thank you Y/N."

Relief flooded the girls body. She immediately relaxed on Kaeya's lap again. Y/N heard the tavern door open, but it was off in the distance, far away from her and the Captains own little world. She shivered when a gust of cool night air hit her bare arms, giving her goosebumps. And still, she focused on Kaeya's eyes, they were filled with want and adoration, something Y/N hadn't ever seen in another man's eyes. Her own E/C orbs glanced down at his lips, then back up to his eyes.

Before she knew it they were both leaning in, now so close that they could feel each others breath on their lips. Then Y/N became painfully aware of the deathly silence that had fallen across the Tavern.

She pulled away from Kaeya, who immediately sported a pout, and looked at the entrance.

White hot panic washed over the poor girl.

Standing there in the doorway, staring right at her, was the whole reason she left Liyue to begin with.

It took the man at the entrance a minute to take in the scene before him, then his eyes narrowed into slits.

Feeling more bold than she ever had in her entire life, Y/N shot Ajax a malicious smile, filled with nothing but hate and ill intent. She hoped this would hurt him, more than anything had ever hurt him before.

She turned back to Kaeya, let him grab her neck and pull her in. His warm lips slid so smoothly over her own. The second his tongue probed her lips she opened them, letting his muscle slide into her mouth. Y/N could taste the whisky he drank earlier as she pushed his tongue back with her own. Saliva mixed and their teeth clashed with the roughness of it, but she needed more, she needed to forget.

She needed to stop wishing Kaeya was someone else.

Needed to stop wishing he was the onlooker at the entrance.
