"So let me get this straight you two got kicked out of the zoo for the next five years?" Maddy asked laughing hysterically. she thought it was priceless that he pushed me into the tank. "yeah we did. now if you would stop laughing can you please stop and help me pick out a dress? Should I go with the blue or red?" I ask her holding up the two identical floor length gowns. "your meeting vampires defiantly the red. it's like blood. plus it makes you look sexy." I ignore her comments but slip on the red dress. "Zip me up." She did as I said. Ding-dong the doorbell went off. I knew it was David and I slipped on the red heels to match. I opened up the door to see him in a suit and tie. his tie the same blood red as my dress. "you look like a princess." he said pulling my hand up to his lips placing a small kiss on it. "thank you" I say blushing. we walked hand on hand outside and instead of his jeep I came face to face with a limo. "what. is. this." I say looking at david. "I'll explain in the limo." once situated in the limo he began. "my parents are umm very important people in the vampire kingdom. so that's why you needed to dress up and why we are riding in a limo." he seemed to be very uncomfortable so I decided to leave it. "ok" a few hours later we arrived. the drive way was a giant circle that had a huge fountain in the middle. The house wasn't even a house but a castle. it had towers behind and beside it. it was made of complete white polished brick. the front was almost out of all glass though with huge windows that showed the dinning room,living room, and kitchen. the other rooms were just as extravagant as the outside. The limo stopped and I looked at david. "just how important?" I asked a sheepish looking david. our conversation was interrupted by the limo driver opening my door. "Before you beautiful." David said. It poke a deep breathe before getting out there stood by the giant doors stood a man and a woman. they were both fairly tall the woman having bright blue eyes and blonde hair. She had a huge ballgown dress on in a deep blue. it looked like it was for for a queen and that realization made my heart beat spike. am I underdressed? I looked at Davids father mush have gotten his looks from him. they were identical besides his dad's deep brown almost black eyes. He was dressed in a black tux. they both looked kind of harsh but I decided I could deal with whatever they would throw at me. David looked at me gently grabbing my hand and pulling me towards his parents. "chloe this is my mother Sarah and this is my father Justin." I forced a large smile reaching out to shake their hands. "hello mr and mrs black it's a pleasure to meet you both." I said politely. David's mother looked at me hand for a second in what looked like disgust but took it anyway. after she let go David's father shook my hand and a bit harder then he should have if you ask me. it hurt but I refused to show my pain. that's exactly what he wanted i realized they are trying me. well let the games begin. Both of David's parents turned and went inside without another word. I looked at him worriedly but he have me another smile. he pulled me along to sitting room made of complete glass. David's mother and father sat on one love seat across from a small glass table. Sarah gestured for us to sit across from them. after we were seated she looked at me wearily. "David don't you think your beloved is a bit underdressed for a princess?" She said bluntly. I knew I was underdresed. Wait what princess? "princess?!?" I coughed. his parents looked at me like I was stupid and David was looking at me in horror. "did you not tell her about your roots David? Shame on you. yes once you marry David you will be a princess. justin and I are the king and queen of vampires." I looked at David and his family in shock. "what's this about marriage? We are just dating." I say calmly. this woman is insane! Marriage? We've only dated for two days! she sighed heavily. "such a shame your human deary you don't understand this culture at all. I'll have mason's beloved explain it to you while she let's you borrow and outfit and the crown we have had for you. your dismissed" she said. I couldn't help but stare in shock at this woman. she was polite yet bluntly rude at the same time. "come I'll help you." I heard a female voice say from behind me. I turned to see a petite Burnett beside me with light brown eyes. this must be the girl she was talking of. "I'm Lacey. I'm mason's beloved. I know you don't know what that is so I'll explain it in a moment." She said sweetly and I nodded. I just followed her up the marble steps not saying anything. what was I to say? And who is mason? It must be David's brother I'm assuming. after a million or so hallways we came to a sparkly sapphire door. this room was for you. We didn't know your sizes or anything so their are many of every size. I'll measure you and help you pick one. after some custom dresses will be made for you ok? I nodded my head numbly in shock at the huge room she said was made for me. it was at least three of mine. the floor was black tile with sparkles while the roof was glass so I could see the night. the walls were a deep purple and all the fur ute was black with blue decorations. "like it I assume?" Lacey laughed. "Umm yes thank you now what should I wear? I wouldn't want to keep the blacks waiting." I said. she looked at me in a distaste. "who cares Sarah is who sent me to change you like a maid when they have maids so she can deal with waiting. She should just have left you alone in my opinion you look beautiful." she stated. wow is this whole family blunt? "Thanks" I laugh blushing slightly. "your going to be queen you need to speak up!" She screamed. I run up to we covering her mouth with my hands. "shhh they might hear you!" I whisper yell. Lacey burst out laughing. "the room is soundproof hun. umm just for private when you and David want to umm do some things." She wiggled her eyebrows. I swatted at her arm. "you perv! You remind me of my friend Madison." I laugh. "well I'm honored. I would love you meet this friend sometime." Lacey said. I look down at the floor sadly. Almost forgetting Lacey is a vampire and I'm a hunter. I could never bring another hunter to this castle. "David must not have told you what I am..." I say. Lacey caught my mood change immodestly. "Of course your a hunter. I'm human or used to be mason turned me a few years back. He turned me when I was 16 so I am still 16. mentally I should be 21 but I rather be 16. the rents know what you are too that's why they don't like you. they believe you did something to make David think your his beloved when your truely not just to make the kingdom fall. well Sarah does." she said as if that explains the world. "no I would never..." I say thinking just a few weeks ago yes yes I would have. "what's a beloved?" I ask. Lacey turned away from me at this. "I'll explain while you get ready we've wasted enough time." she laughs searching through gorgeous dresses. "a beloved is a vampires other half. kind of like a soul mate. they only get one every life time. a vampire either gets another vampire beloved or a human one. vampires love forever unless killed I'm sure you know as a hunter. anywho the vampire can turn his or her beloved into a vampire to save them from death or well that's basically it." she finished weirdly. she was defiantly going to say something else.. what stopped her? She pulled out a ballgown dress it was deep red and had a beautiful diamond design on the chest. "like it?" I nodded. "wait so I would be vampire queen? I can't do that I'm a hunter! H U N T E R!" I screamed suddenly afraid of what will happen. lacey just looked at me sadly. "Yes I know but I also know you will make the right choice." she said as she handed me the dress. she slipped out of the room and I sighed sitting on he edge of the bed. this is non sense a hunter a vampire queen. ridiculous.i laugh drily as I relize why David kept on calling me princess. to him I am a literal princess. I didn't take it to weird though that he's my soul mate. it just felt right somehow. deciding I better get downstairs I slip on the dress. I couldn't find the crown Sarah was talking about and I started getting worried. "knock knock." came David's voice from the door. "come in" I whisper to him and he does just that. I look at him shyly and I notice a diamond tiara in his hand. "for you my beloved." he said hanging me the crown. a shiver ran down my spine at the word beloved it seemed to have an effect on me. "thank you david." I say taking the tiara from him. it was also beautiful obviously hand made forever ago and I bet it was worth a fortune. gulp. I put it on my head and looked at myself in the mirror. wow I did look like a princess. "that's cause you are chloe." David whispered in my ear wrapping his hands around me. he looked at my neck and my breathing hitched. He wouldn't bite me. right? "I wouldn't without your permission" he said calmly looking at me. I sigh in relif but then felt guilty for thinking he might by the look in his eyes. he didn't want me to be scared of him. he never even asked to be born vampire. just like I didn't ask to be born a hunter. "why were you staring at my neck than?" I ask him my voice surprisingly steadier than I thought it would be. "well this part Lacey must have not mentioned. a male beloved marks their other half by biting their neck right there." he said pointing to the spot. "It leaves what looks like a tattoo the only people who can see the mark are vampires and the beloveds of vampires. each pair of beloved also have a unique mark. it tells all vampires that, that person is taken and not to try anything" he said. "Oh" I said hesitating. "What about that day you but me..." I whisper quietly. His face instantly filled with regret. "I just scraped my fangs against your neck like a scratch. It leaves a faded mark like the one I was talking about but not completely...  When you have the real mark there's no take backs." He gave me a pained look. "But you could leave till then." My heart hurt knowing that he thought I would leave. "Ok... we better go downstairs "I said. "Yes we better." he said emotionlessly. We walked down the stairs together hand in hand. when we reached the sitting room we were in before a maid stood there awaiting us. "dinner was served. they said they would meet you in the dinning hall." I smiled she was so polite but she looked scared of David... he lead me down The hallway to where To where assume the dinning hall is. "It's because she was human." he whispered and my ear. it made more sense that way but I didn't want to question it farther. Eventually we came into a doorway and what I seen was amazing gleaming granite type floors a shiny wooden table made for about 100 people and a giant chandalear like 50 feet of the ground. overall the room was amazing my explanation does not give it any justice. my daze was it erupted by a clap. "well now you look like a princess. Your still human which is a shame and a hunter none the less worse. but besides that there's only a few things to fix till I'll call you my sons beloved." Sarah said. what she said was incredibly rude but I knew she thought low of me already so I but my tongue. "Thank you queen. I'm pleased to hear that. I apologize for not being dressed to your liking." I said curtsying at the end. She looked at me with shock than anger. I just meant to please her. Justin David's father looked pleased with me though. U don't understand why he likes me though. "Sarah leave the girl be shes probably staving." he said and I smiled thankfully at him. "Thank you" I curtseyed to him to and he just looked torn. We ate me just listening as they talked about the vampire kingdom. justin explained to David how riots were breaking out because of Davids lack of a beloved. A king without a beloved is a weak king I suspect from the way they talk about it. of course that was untrue as I'm his beloved but they also wouldn't take kindly to the fact that I've probably killed someone very close to them. a brother sister or even their beloved. Before thinking I spoke "what if we held a umm ball sort of thing inviting the important people of the kingdom and introduce me to them to spread the word? We don't have to tell them about my hunting. I won't kill anyone unless they attack me you've proven to me that I was taught wrong about your kind." I said loud and proud. before I got a reply a loud smack echoed through the room and a but if sensation on my cheek. I looked at the source of the hit to see Sarah. "how dare you speak out of turn and interrupt the king and princes conversation?" She screamed at me. Tears rimmed my eyes from the pain but I refused to let them fall she would enjoy that too much. David and Justin just stared at us in shock not going anything. "I thought I was helping and you made it clear I'm a princess so that's who I thought I was ma'am. Lacey told me that beloveds were equal so I was equal to David. must not be though because I'm a lously human huh? Well at least I had the guts to stand up for myself and try to help unlike you who say there and gossiped like a teenage girl and not a queen!" I screamed irritated with this woman. queen or not who does she think SHE is? I stood up straight and proud not dropping my glare. I stormed out of the room running hallways and out the front door. Once out I breathe in deeply. I don't know how to leave so I have to wait for David. I looked around the large front yard and decide to sit beside the fountain. the dress was hard to arrange but after awhile I arranged it so I could dip my feet in the water without getting it wet. I say there for a short while before hearing a small squeak. frightened I turned around to see a small Burnett girl around 5 with light brown eyes. "who are you?" Her tiny voice asked. i looked around hoping to find her parents but went without luck. "I am chloe who are you?" I ask politely eyeing the girl. she's wearing a small dress almost like mine but a light blue. "I'm princess Penelope!" She squealed in excitement. She stopped mid jump and looked at me. confused I just looked back. "what are you doing here?" She asks as if realizing something. "your human you shouldn't be here." She said emotionlessly. I gulped confused at the little girls actions. is she scared for me? "I I'm David's beloved.. I came to meet the king and queen but she didn't like me very much so I came and say out here." I said softly. her eyes lit up again in excitement. "Queen didn't like my mommy either because my mommy was human! You and my mommy could be the besets friends!!"she said jumping onto my lap and squeezing me. I couldn't help but laugh at her crazy hyperness. "who's your mommy Penelope?" She stopped and thought for a second. "Princess Lacey and daddy is Prince mason. I thought they were going to be king and queen but now that you are here mommy can stay a princess like me!" She said. I laughed again at her. it's going to be weird seeing Lacey take care of a five year old because she looks so young but I guess I'll have to get used to it. "what are you doing to her Penelope?" I heard David say jokingly from the castle doors. "NOTHING WE WERE TALKING ABOUT HOW MUCH CUTER MR.FLUFFLES IS THAN YOU." She screamed giving me a look to play along. I smiled and nodded my head. in a flash David was hugging me from behind and Penelope was just sitting there laughing. "You will think no one is cuter than me chloe no one." He said in a possessive voice.I couldn't help but burst into laughter. he didn't even realize mr.fluffles? "Didn't you hear it's mr.fluffles and he is so!" I say between laughs. his grip loosened finally realizing what happened. "I'll get you back for that later penny." David said winking at her before she disappeared. "Are you ready to go home princess?" He asked squeezing my hand. "more than ever." I answered breathlessly
