Birthday ball

"David I don't think I can do this." I manage to say hyperventilating. "Sure you can Chloe. It was your idea after all." He says giving me an encouraging smile. "I know but I didn't think you would go through with it! Also since when are this many people important! How many people are even here David? How many people are going to have there sole attention on us! Your mom doesn't even like me! What makes you think your kingdom will?" I say panicking. Right now I'm in my room talking to David. I'm In fuzzy shorts and a tank top that Lacey let me borrow. The only thing in my closet was satin gowns or skanky pajamas probably to "please" the prince. Heck no I won't be one of those girls. These she bought herself saying it's the same for her. David is only in boxers much to my discomfort. I know I know what about last night? Yeah yeah I seen it all already but that's not the point. It was taking everything in me not to stare I mean god the boy is yummy. Like seriously. A smirk made it's way on to his face after I said that. "STOP READING MY MIND YOU PERV!" I yell at him laughing. "I would have had to if you didn't daze off thinking about how sexy is am." He says cockily. I crawl closer and smack his chest. I didn't think sexy! I thought yummy!" "I know babe." He says grabbing my hands and bringing them behind his neck while pulling me onto his lap. I instantly melt at his touch and let him situate me. "They will love you princess. Just like I do." I cuddled into his warm chest. "TIME TO GE- AHHH MY EYES" I hear Lacey scream running out of the room. We both look at each other and laugh at her reaction. David goes into my closet and pulls out a pair of pajama pants. He must have stocked it with some of his clothes for situations like this I chucked. "ITS CLEAR." I scream and Lacey entered slowly peaking her head out of the crease in the door. A large sigh escapes her tiny frame. "Oh thank god. Anyway it's time to get ready!! I'm so excited and oh And time for your birthday present!!" She squeals. "What did you get me?" I ask tilting my head. "A magician never reveals his secrets! Now sit sit sit!!" She squeals. Too scared of her despite her soft tiny appearances I sit without making a remark about her not being a he or magician. I hear David's chuckle and I knew he was reading my mind again. "I'll see you girls later." David waves walking out of the room. "Okay so your present is your dress I'm sure you looked at them all and picked out a favorite buuuut I got one that screamed you!" She said excitedly walking out of the room for a second leaving me there confused. When she came back in I noticed her holding the most beautiful dress I've ever seen with a clear plastic over top of it. It was sweetheart neckline and a ball gown dress it was an off white tinted purple. Underneath my breasts till my waist it was tight till it puffed out. Purple beads were thrown all over the dress but they were more obvious around my waist the top of the neckline and bottom that hits the floor. I stared at her mouth agape it was like my dream dress. "I knew you would love it!! And it's already fitted to your exact measurements." She smiled happily. "Thank you soooo much Lacey. It's perfect." "I know" she chirped before grabbing a bunch of beauty products and beginning her work.

Two hours later she was done. My hair was done in curls with a windblown look my eyes were a shade darker brown then normal and a thin line of eyeliner topped my lids. I don't know how it took two hours but I didn't question it. My dress was on and I was facing away from the mirror looking at a happy Lacey waiting for her to tell me I'm allowed to turn around and look. "Okaaaay now!" She screamed. I spun around and stopped when I seen my reflection I could hardly believe I was myself I didn't look like me. I looked like a princess I swear I don't know if I'll ever be more beautiful then I am right now. "Your beautiful every day in every way princess but this look sure is amazing. Maybe our wedding day will top this off:" David said coming in, by then end of his sentence he had reached me across the room taking my hand and spinning me around at least twice. I couldn't help the happy giggles that escaped. The moment was broken my a loud cough "eww guys still here leave the mushy shit for the ball tonight okay?" Said Lacey. David pulled me in closer to him and under his arm. "Will do lace thank you and see you in an hour." David said dismissing her. "But shouldn't I help her I mean she helped me?" I look at him sadly. "No she's been doing this longer she can look princess ready by herself in under thirty minutes no offense but you would probably slow her down." I pout at his words pretending to be mad. "No no no don't give me that pout you look like a kicked puppy and i can't have a kicked puppy princess running around now can I?" I laugh at his words trying to keep a straight face but it was impossible. "No you can not. Now what are we doing till the ball?" I ask. "The ball has already started the royal family always arrives late we will be joining in an hour a bit after Lacey and my parents since this ball is for us. Now there's two ways we can enter you can choose but there's one you probably should do." He said getting serious. I don't like when he's serious but I guess I'll have to get used to it. "Okay then tell me." I say relaxing but getting serious myself. "We could enter together hand in hand. Or I could enter first followed by you. The later would make you seem less afraid and more professional but since your nervous we could do the first." I nod thinking about my options he's right I was nervous but I had to do my best to look good for the kingdom. "I'll enter after you." I say and i notice the small smile he tries to hide. We talked about everything I needed to know for the next hour or so. From what to talk about from what to eat to what people are important and what just want to talk to me. It seemed all fairly easy but I know it's never that simple especially with the queen at my throat. I wonder how she's going to react to my mark. Dammit my mark. "Don't worry Honey she can't do anything about it. She might be mad but she wont cause a scene especially during the ball. Worse case scenario she throws you some serious shade." David says talking funny at the end. I give him a confused look as his smile fades. "I was trying t-" "I know babe don't have to explain yourself." "Ready to go then?" David says "as I'll ever be." I say walking for the door. "Arnt you missing something?" He asks chucking. I think for a second and realize I never put on a tiara. I chuckle with him and go towards my bed where all my tiaras are placed in a locked keypad glass case. Front row shimmering is a crown that matches my dress perfectly it had large deep purple stones covering the crown and diamonds circling the purple stones. It wasn't there earlier so I knew it was new. Davids arms wrap around my waist and he whispers in my ear. "Happy birthday princess." My eyes go wide as I realize it was from him. I spin around wrapping my arms as tightly around him as I can. "David I love it! Thank you so so so much!" He didn't respond just typed in the code and pulled out the tiara. I could feel the cheek breaking smile that covered my face. He laid the tiara on my head fixing it a little so it would stay on. "There and one more thing? When we get on stage at the end of the night to say goodnight I want you to take off the tiara and read the engraving alright?" "Alright" I say grabbing his hand and pulling him closer to the door. "You ready?" "Ready" I say
~~~~We walk to where I assume the ballroom to be. Finally we came to giant glittering white doors they were extremely beautiful I can't image the ball room itself. "Okay so I told the announcer that you were coming after me. He's going to call me in and Im going to enter walk down the stairs and stand with the rest of my family. Then he's going to introduce you. Obviously he can't say for last name since it's hunter so we just changed it and has it saying black your basically married according to vampires anyway. So then you will enter. I want you to walk to the banister and look around for a minute head high don't any afraid that's what this is meant to show. They might see you as weak because your human and I don't want any of that after tonight. After that I just want you to walk down the stairs and meet me below. Then you'll just follow my lead OK?" David explained Slowly as if I was a child. "Yes I understand prince," I say as formally as possible. The announcer calls David's name. He looks at the door then grabs me pecking me on the lips "you'll do great." He said before turning quickly and walking into the doors. He is such a jerk now my cheeks are all red and I seriously need to get them back to normal and fast before- "and now the one you've all been dying pun intended to meet." I chuckled at that. I think this man and I will get along amazingly. "The soon to be queen and birthday princess. Princess Chloe black," He finishes. I take a deep breathe in and relax pushing my shoulders back and standing tall. I can do this. I lay my hands on the cool wood and push it open. Immediately I'm blinded by the lights and flashes of the press. Thanks for the heads up David I grumble do he could hear. The lights start to dim and I make out my surroundings I'm standing on a giant balcony covered in red marble it continues till the ground where everyone else is standing. The stair case was actually two sets one on each side of me. The walls are covered in the same sparkly color the door was. It was beautiful. I tried ignoring all the people while stepping forward to the edge of the balcony that had matching white bars to make sure no one fell. I finally reached it and scanned the crowd i had the press screaming questions at me but I ignored them. "If the press would stop pestering the princess tbag would be lovely." The announcer said and I had to hold back my laughter. I have to meet this man afterwards. I smile at the crowd and go down the left stair case. David was at the right waiting for me. I wanted to show I wasnt scared like David told me. The weirdest part is I wasn't. It felt natural. I was born to be here Always have been I realized. When I finally made it down everyone was starting at me I nodded my head slightly to show that I see them. I walked with as much grace as I could to David. His face seemed the most shocked. No one is even talking. Did I do something wrong? No I couldn't have. I send a curious glance at David. He bends down and whispered in my ear "you belonged up there. You look like you've been doing this your entire life. I'm so proud of you." He said leaning in to kiss me. Just as our lips were about to meet we were interrupted. "This is not the time or place." His mother hissed sending me a look up and down and grimacing. Obviously she didn't approve. The crowd began talking again and David dragged me away from his mother and into the back of the ballroom. I seen many important looking people as we passed and I gave them a nod letting them know I seen them. When he finally stopped tugging at my hand I seen a snack and drink table set up and people surrounding it. I seen six very important looking men and realized I'm going to be talking to them. "Chloe these are my cousins. They run the kingdom below us helping to keep it organized safe and undetected." David said. I smiled and bowed my head lower showing respect. David never told me to do this I just felt it needed. "Pleasure to meet you all." I say. Again their are all looking at me like I have three heads. The tallest of the six stand forward "princess you are not to bow your head at people. You are a princess and you do not submit." He says looking worried. I'm almost upset at what was said. Does no one respect others around here? "I'm sorry you thought that's what I was doing umm-" "chandler" he told me. I smiled. "Yes chandler I see viewing my head as a sign of respect of I bow my entire body then it is submission. I was only showing my redirect for you all." I finish proudly. These men obviously arnt respected as much as they should be and I plan on changing that. They are very important to this kingdom and should be treated as such. "That is well very kind of you princess." The smallest of the boys said shy. I looked at him a little longer noticing he didn't look as serious. He had laugh lines and not wrinkles bright blue eyes that still held a sparkle and a small smile tugging at his lips. This one havnt been influenced yet. I've decided he is my favourite. We met many people some lower then us others just rich families. At the closing of the night this scrawny boy dressed in a tux but not one that seemed to fit came up to us. "The king would like for princess Chloe to answer some questions from the press before saying good night." The boy said looking at his shoes. "Boy excuse me I don't know your name. Please look at me when you talk to me." I say kindly. He doesn't look up and I frown. "Servants arnt suppose to look at you or speak back unless given permission."David days I look at him in horror. He has got to be kidding me. " umm excuse me boy you have permission to speak." I say a bit awkwardly. "As prince David said princess." I grow a burning pit in my stomach no one should be treated like this. "Boy look at me that's an order." I say. He begins to shake and I start to feel terrible maybe I should just have left the boy alone. He looks up still avoiding my eyes. "What's your name?" I ask. He stutters but I think I make out the name Joseph. "Well thank you for the news. Next time you can look me in the eyes alright?" I say kindly and he shuffles away not answering me. "Okay lets get to that interview then I say pulling David to the balcony to meet his family. As soon as we get there questions are thrown at us. Im given a microphone that I gladly accept. "Quiet down please I'll try answering all your questions so please be patient." I say looking at the maybe ten people asking questions. At first they all look at me but then one says louder. "Why are you just introduced to the kingdom now?" I glare at David I thought he fixed that. "Well as you all probably know im human." A few people gasp and Im shocked to think they didn't know this. Maybe I pulled off being unafraid better then I thought. I continure. "The first picture that you have all seen I didn't even know what David was. You see it was just a date for me. He told me along with everything the next day and I accepted it. I didn't want to come out to you all before I completely understood your lifestyle. I didn't want to offend anyone or do anything of the sorts. Today was also my birthday so it seemed perfect to us to have it tonight." The crowd goes silent for awhile ad if considering my answer. Another one was shouted this time by a blonde. "Every girl in the kingdom is upset at the thought of David having a mate can you answer them just this one question? How is David in bed?" My eyes grow large I can't believe she asked that. No one seemed surprised and I decided that the press must to this often. David's words come into my head remember your a princess save yourself respect. I ignore him and answer. Sure I was a little jealous and he is my beloved I have every right to be. I try to let my voice sound like an authority figure u want everyone to know im not scared. "I understand the girls of the kingdom would be disappointed but I ask them to forgive me. After all I never asked for this life. Yet I love David I wouldn't trade this for the world and what goes on between us is our business and I would respect if everyone would respect that." I say again proudly. I didn't expect this tonight and I feel I'm doing well considering. "How did you get kicked out of the zoo?" Another one shouts. I couldn't help the chuckle that escaped. "Well I tend to be a little accident prone. I ended up with the pettable stingrays." I answer honestly. I won't lie unless I must. The rest of the ballroom besides David's mother laugh. I must have made the right choice. "Don't worry though im working on being more graceful." I add getting more chuckles. "One last question. If your human what did you tell your family you've been gone for three days now where do they think you are?" My eyes go wide as I realize I never told them anything to them I must just have disappeared. "The kingdom is under attack by hunters they are at the main gates!" The voice speaker says and I wince speaking of family mine might just have joined us.
