27.

"Help! Anybody? Please! Help me!" I scream.

I kick a nearby stone. It flies into a bowl that was placed with me over twelve hours ago. "Ah! It's no use!"

I fall back onto a sad excuse-for-a-bed bed and begin to cry in my hands. The silence is erupted with pitiful sobs and shaky breathing. As I listen to the cries that escape from my mouth I hear another sound. A low scratching noise that sounds like my dog desecrating its newly bought raw-hide bone.

After a few sad attempts of a response I manage a one word question.

"Hello?"

I'm greeted by more scratching. I lift my head and untangle my fingers from my snagged blonde hair.

The scratching gives obvious signs of life on the other sides of the bars where my cell is connected to.

The scratching continues on but changes tune every other while.

"Pumpkin?" I attempt. The scratching halts.

"What? Who the hell's Pumpkin?" Responds a young male voice. It's tone is clever yet arrogant at the same time.

"W-who are you?"

"Who are you?" He asks and my eyes search in the darkness of the other cell for a figureless person.

I stand up abruptly upon new born strength.

"Show yourself." I hear rustling and then footsteps approaching me. I back up against the bed as the light shines onto the figure before me.
