"Cleo? Cleo? Wake up. Hello. Anyone in there? Cleo?" I hear a faint voice and I shoot up to find my self in my bed. But I fall back down from the sudden pain in my chest.
"Winter?" I say amazed that my voice is clear.
"No! It's Sam. Sheesh, do you love him or something. You kept on calling 'Winter!' 'Winter!' in your sleep," says Sam jealously. I notice his wavy brown hair is quite dirty, with a few twigs in it. He looks at me with annoyed brown eyes.
"My head," I say ignoring him but I do blush. I strain to get up but Sam pushes me back down.
"You need to rest cupid," he says worried.
"Shut up," I say defensively. "And I don't love him. Where is he anyway?"
Sam throws his hand up exasperated.
"Of course you wanna know where he is!"
I get up and push Sam away annoyed. I walk outside and find him sitting on the ground sharpening his Electra-daggers. He doesn't even have a scratch on him. Now that I'm behind him, I notice the silver brace around his neck.
"They're to keep people from lifting my mask," he says and I jump surprised.
"How did you know I was looking at it?" I ask.
"I sensed it," he responds.
"How exactly?"
"You know, you sure do ask a lot of questions cupid," says Winter annoyingly.
"That's Sam's job," I say and Winter laughs.
"Ha. Ha. Very funny," says Sam sarcastically from behind.
I turn around to see Sam with his hands crossed. I just smile at him.
"Well, it's true," I say teasingly.
"Cupids right," says Winter.
"Yeah, well how do you think I feel?" Sam says annoyed.
Me and Winter look at each other and break out laughing. Sam sighs and walks back into the hut. After our laughter subsides, I decide it's time to get answers.
"So your names Winter right?" I ask.
"Winter Blade actually. That's what people call me," he says distracted by his Electra-daggers.
"Oh, so. . ."
"Okay. What do you want to ask me?" he asks.
"What is that demonic thing? Who are you? And who is Deadpool?" I ask immediately.
"And I thought Sam was annoying," he says and adjusts what looks like a utility belt.
"Well that style-less devil was Dr. Death. He's not much of a threat unless you're vulnerable. Unlike moi. You see, you can't think of fear when you're around him. He feeds on fear and-"
"I wasn't thinking of fear I was thinking of ripping his head-"
"You obviously were because he's powerless without fear. That's how he got those mutated lizards to listen to him. By fear."
"They're called Nomes. And how did we get away anyways? I thought I was dead," I say with a hint of fear in my voice.
"I saved your butt, cupid. You see I killed all those . . . Nomes, showed no fear, and kicked his bloody butt! End of story," he says proudly.
"Oh, stop bragging," I say.
"If I wasn't there you would have been fried chicken wings," he chuckles.
"Chicken wings?"
"It's a smaller version of your wings except cooked to a delectable golden brown," he says pointing at me with his Electra-daggers.
"Ew," I say grossed out. Why would anyone eat that stuff?
"Well if you ate it you would like it. That's why anyone would," says Winters.
"How'd you know . . .?" I say amazed.
"I can read you," he says.
"Like a book?" says Sam suddenly.
"So you were listening," says Blade.
"No, you just talk loud," Sam says and walks pass Blade deliberately bumping into his shoulder.
But before Sam can get one foot away, Winter grabs his shoulder and throws him to the ground. Sam gets up and punches at Winter but he reverses Sam's punch and makes Sam punch himself.
"Stop hitting yourself," says Blade sarcastically.
"Shut up!" says Sam and he tries to punch Winter again but he twists Sam's arm around to his back so fast it takes me awhile to process it. Blade pushes Sam's arm up his back and he screams.
"Ugh! Let go!" Sam screams.
"Say Uncle," Winter demands teasingly.
"No!" responds Sam.
"Come on, say it," chuckles Winter, and he pushes up more and Sam shrieks.
"Uncle! Uncle! Uncle!" Sam screams.
"That's a good boy," teases Winter and pushes Sam away.
