22.
I wake up to the sound of an engine and peek around the tree to see a tall lean man pushing a red machine across the backyard. It shoots out shredded grass and a trail of short grass runs behind him. His golden hair glimmers in the sunlight. He turns in my direction and makes another trail of short grass. I scale up the 15 feet tree and look through the leaves at him.
I then look at the roof of the house and spread my wings out. The man turns away from me with his machine and I bolt at high speed to the roof of the house. I peak down at him and he continues to shred his perfectly green grass.
I look around and see a brick cube shaped wall. I crawl to it and look down into it to see a tunnel with light at the bottom of it. I crawl in but just made the biggest mistake of my life. I fall down the tunnel butt first and when I try to gab the wall its flat surface provides no aid. I squeak when I land on a hard bumpy surface, and the light given to me reveals a pile of black wood under me.
I turn and look out the hole behind me and see the same couch Winter and
Sam sat on last night. I look down and see black hands. I lift my hands and I see that my whole body is covered in some sort of black dirt. I sneeze and cough when I breathe in the dirty air around me.
I've got to get out of here.
I crawl out the hole onto the now-covered-in-black-dirt cream carpet. I roll onto my back. But I bolt behind a black shelf when I hear foot steps, still aware of the engine sound outside. I hear a gasp and peek to see a small brown headed girl looking surprised at the black handprints that I made. Oops.
"Mom!" she screams and I cover my ears. Screech would be impressed.
Sam's mom runs to her distressed daughter and looks at the dirt stain with huge eyes. Her eyes follow the trail to the shelf I'm hiding behind.
Oh, crap.
I crawl behind their humongous TV which coincidentally happened to be right next to the black shelf.
They both walk over to the shelf and I bolt from behind the TV and down a random hall. It's a freaken slaughter house in here. It's no place for a demonic-winged girl.
I look over my should and when I turn my head I slam into a person. When I look up I see Josh with a towel over his face. Before he removes it I twist behind him and bolt down the hall and open a door and close it behind me.
I lock the door, turn around, and slide down onto my butt leaning against the door and closing my eyes, breathing hardly. When I open my eyes I see that I'm in the bathroom. But that's not the bad part.
Someone is in the shower. Crap!
I hear a knock on the door and hear Sam's voice yell he's in the shower. My face burns and it must be red. If I'm in the bathroom and Sam's in the shower then-
The shower curtains begin to move and I bolt into a closet. It's dark but my accurate "night-vision" riveals three racks of towels. My breathing is very hard and when I try to calm it I almost suffocate. My heart skips a beat and I black out.
