"Dude, are you trying to kill somebody!" Says the male creature standing in front of me. But I'm too puzzled to answer. Where did he come from, and why is he yelling at me? The last time I saw his kind I was evacuating from a forest being burned by one of these creatures. This thought quickly fills me with anger because I just know that's what this creature is here to do. Burn down my forest.
"Well, are you?" he says somewhat frightened. I notice his wavy brown hair a bright brown eyes. His skin could have been fair if he wasn't covered in dirt. But I refuse to talk to him. Why should I if he is just going to burn down this forest with my LQ in it.
"Are you deaf or something? I just asked you a question and you just ignore me. Well you have some nerve pointing an arrow at a poor, helpless boy. I mean, who does that? I've been through enough today and I do not, I repeat, do not want to be killed by some crazy-"
Crazy? Did this creature just call me crazy? Is it just me, or does this creature never stop talking? I mean, just look at his mouth. Up, down, up, down. It doesn't stop. And I certainly am not deaf. If I'm not mistaken, I am the one who was here first, so he never should have startled me.
"-girl who obviously has some issues. I mean look at you. Who in this world points a bow and arrow at another person? Unless you're a cannibal, you have no right to kill me. So just put the arrow down, and walk-"
"What are you?" I interrupt.
"What? What kinda' question is that? 'What are you?' What are you?" He says, obviously mocking my so-called stupidity. It's just a simple question. He is a creature, so I just want to know exactly what he is.
"What are you? Your not one of my kind so what are you?" I say confidently. I'm not going to let some male creature make fun of me. I'm the superior one. He has no right to make fun of someone he cannot kill. Huh, if I wanted to I could quickly, but surely end his life without breaking a sweat.
"What am I? What am I? What are you, going around asking a human what he is? I'm a boy that's what I am. Are you mental or-". He quickly stops because I have my arrow point about 2 inches away from his heart. He gulps down the rest of his "speech" and puts both of his hand in the air, palms up in surrender.
"Hey look girl, uh, I'm not looking for any trouble. I'm just tryin' to find my way home so, uh, could ya put the arrow down and forget about what I just said. Ha, ha I was just kidding about the whole crazy-mental girl charade". He smiles encouragingly and looks down at the arrow point. I'm somewhat amused at his fear. I would laugh but I do not want him to think I wasn't really trying to kill him. So I smile cruelly, and pull back my bow. He falls to his knees and puts his hands together pleadingly.
"Please don't kill me, I just want to live. I'm too young to die! Please I beg of you. Have mercy on me."
"Why should I? I thought I was the crazed mental cannibal", I say teasingly.
"Oh, come on. That was just a joke. I-I just was just playing around. I didn't really mean it. Honest." he says frightfully, "Perhaps I didn't introduce myself right. I'm Sam Williams". He stands up quickly and holds out his right hand. I just look at it questioningly.
"Uh, you're supposed to shake", he says trying to hiding his aggravation and fear.
"What makes me think you won't attack me?" I say cruelly.
"Well, I kind of just used my only weapon on that fawn." He says pointing his free hand at the lifeless animal. I survey him, and find no sign of another weapon. So I cautiously put my bow across my back and shake his hand. It's dirty but somewhat soft.
"What are you doing here?" I ask trying to keep my tone merciless.
"I'd like to ask you the same thing", he responds cautiously.
"Answer me first", I say
"Uh, well I'm kind of lost", he says obviously embarrassed.
"Ok." I say tonelessly
"Ok. Now it's your turn. What exactly are you doing here? Oh, and one more thing, can I have my hand back?" That is when I notice I'm still holding his hand. I immediately let go and try my hardest not to show any emotions.
"I live here", I say trying to draw attention away from what just happened.
"Oh, really. Well, what's a girl like you doing in an uninhabited forest in Canada?" Sam says in a curious tone.
"Canada?"
"Um, yes that's right. You do know what Canada is, do you?" He asks in a questioning tone.
But I don't know what this Canada is. Is it a thing, or maybe a name of a person, or possibly the name of this forest? I don't really know which puzzles me. I have no info on where I am. All I know is that I have to kill Nomes every other hour to stay alive.
"Well?" He asks but I'm still mesmerized on what Canada might be.
"Uh, yes I do," I say, trying to hide my confusion.
"Huh, I can't believe it, you don't know what Canada is!" he says in an a-ha voice.
"What? Yes I do!"
"No you don't. Admit it; you don't know what the heck Canada is. Well, that's one more thing I know that you don't. Oh, yea! Score on for the Samminator!" Then he jumps in the air as if he really accomplished something. This strikes me as plain dumb. So what, he knows whatever Canada is.
"Do you even know what North America is?"
What? North what? What is this nonsense coming out of his mouth? What the heck is Canada, and what is North whatever. Can he at least speak English?
I can't even finish because there's a sudden rustle in the bushes next to us. Gladly ignoring his question, I pull out my bow and arrow instinctively and aim for the incoming danger.
