28.

I can feel my body but I can't see it. I can't even see the ground I walk on. I bend my knees and run my fingers through what feels like grass. I wave my hands in front of my face but my eyes don't register them.

"Winter. . .Sam," I whisper but all that returns is sickly silence.

I walk on with my hands in front of me to protect me from colliding with anything. Then all of a sudden a blinding light appears in front of me. I take a few steps backwards.

When my eyes adjusts to the light I begin to wish it never did.

"Long time no see friend. . .," says a horribly familiar voice.

My eyes try to focus on where the voice is coming from and they focus in on him. . . well it, more or less.

His hood is down showing what he looks like which I least expected. I imagined a horribly twisted face with blood drooling from permanent wounds. Instead I'm greeted by piercing blue eyes. . . wait scratch that. Piercing blue eye. The other is a blood red color. His golden locks beautifully, too beautifully, encase his pale yet soft looking face. This attribute contrasts his eyes incredibly. He looks no older than Luke but he has a wise way about him.

"Dr. Lunatic," I respond furiously, but it's less furious than intended. I wrack my brain for a catchy phrase that Winter would say. It comes up empty. So I just fix him with a glare as my wings extend.

"Well that doesn't seem fair on me. Now does it Cleo?"

"You don't deserve fair. Where's Sam and Winter?"

His different colored eyes study me vigorously. His face retains a stubborn set completed by a lop sided smile. A long while passes and my face flushes because he's studying me a bit too vigorously.

 I feign clearing my throat.

"What have you done with them?"

His eyes quickly flicker to mine as if he just discovered I could talk.

He smiles widely exposing incredibly strait white teeth.

"I'm the wrong person to ask. But it seems as though you are lost. It would be an honor to help you find your way."

For the first time I notice the torch in his left hand. The only weird thing about this situation is him and that the torch retains a purple aura. But it cast a bright white shine. He removes his right hand from under his cloak and shows it in the direction of where the light stops and forms into darkness.

And that's when I notice our surroundings. A forest, yes. But then again not one. The spiky acorn infested grass I'm so used to is so black it looks like someone took a flame thrower and expelled it on everything. Even the acorns are black. My eyes lift to the looks of trees which are one and the same as the grass. Black and sickly looking. The sky? No sky. It's so black it blends in with the trees. No stars. No moon. And definitely no sun.

"Where am I. . .?" But the question is guided more toward me than Lunatic.

"It's home."

My eyes fall to him in an intense glare, but he continues to beckon me to follow him. I turn to walk away but notice that the only guide is the him. No... the light. I turn back around slowly to a smiling face. In any other circumstance it would have been adorable but this is Dr. Death your talking about. His name isn't exactly the most intriguing name in the world.

"Well. . . ?"

"Uh. . . You expect me to follow you? Aren't you the one with crazy girlfriend who almost killed me? And aren't you the one who tried to catch Winter on fire? And don't forget-"

He laughs almost pleasantly. "Why Cleo, Selina is just my sister. We're in no relationship like that." He laughs again. "And it wasn't me who sent her to kill you. Just her ego. She's merely jealous of you."

Jealous? Of me? For what? All of which I wanted to ask but didn't.

"Where. Is. Sam?"

"If you're so eager to know then follow me," He replies impatiently.

"Fine but what if you actually are leading me to my grave?"

"If I actually wanted to kill you you'd already be dead, my love."
