Who we need to be to survive. (Emily Gilbert pt. 2)

The veil

I wake up in my bed actually feeling good and go take a bath. I put on a pair of black highwaisted jeans shorts and I almost just put on a sports bra and a leather jacket but then I see the breeze outside my window so I put on a cropped long sleeve jersey and put my leather jacket over it. What? I'm not fully a vampire so yes I feel cold now. The most powerful but yet I can be taken out by an air condition.

I lace up my ankle boots and then unplug my phone from the charger and push it into my pocket and go downstairs. "Do you have any actual food in here?" Marcus questions. "Um I have skittles and half an ice cream." I offer.

"Emmy does not believe in actual food and if she was human that would probably have killed her by now." Eileen says from the couch and I stick my tongue out at her. "Okay I am going to the grill for actual food." I announce. Eileen and I can't actually go to the same places at the same time because almost everyone in this town already knows I have a twin sister and that she doesn't look exactly like me so yep. "You up for being around people?" I ask Marcus. "I guess we'll find out." He says and I nod. "That's the spirit." I say sarcastically.

By the time we get to the grill the winds get worse  as we get out of the car. Okay since when does it storm here...?

Before we could duck into the grill, I meet up Matt, Rebekah and Caroline. "What the hell is with the winds?" I ask them and I actually have to shout to be heard but she shrugs with a worried look on her face. "I'll call my mom - maybe she knows what's going on." Care says and I nod. "Change of plans." I tell Marcus and he nods. "Yep that seems to be the pattern in this town." He breathes out and I flash him an apologetic smile.

Instead we end up heading to the high school and we call Eileen to meet us. I park my car and we walk towards Damon and Stefan. "Okay what is with the doomsday shit?"

"That's what we're trying to find out." Stefan replies and I finally reach them and apparently so does Elena because she comes out of nowhere. "I think we should split up. Damon and I can look outside while you guys go with Stefan and look inside." Elena suggests.

"Oh cool...maybe Marcus can go with you guys, put those newbie vamp senses to use." I suggest. I need Damon and him to spend some time together.

Marcus raises his eyebrows at me and so does Damon but Elena is the only one who opens her mouth to say something but I cut her off before she starts. "Everyone cool? Okay let's go." I start walking inside and Stefan follows me.  We walk around the school. I have to use my phone flashlight because apparently power is out everywhere.

We find Caroline in the cafeteria. "Any luck?" Stefan asks as we walk in. " I searched the whole school. She should be here."

Before any of us could say anything there's a clattering noise and I follow it without thinking. "What was that?" Caroline questions. I follow the noise to the kitchen and only realize that they are behind me when Stefan somehow ends up in front of me and opens the freezer. "It's ice melting."

There's another noise behind us and I whip around shining the flashlight. "Blind me will you." Eileen says and I roll my eyes. "Don't sneak up on people like that." I say before turning back around and she walks into line with us. "This makes no fucking sense." I mutter. "Exactly." Caroline agrees. "This is the center of the triangle. If she's gonna do the spell, she has to do it here. This is where they should be."

"What are the chances she's not doing the spell and the world's just ending.." I comment earning no response just annoyed looks.

"Actually, I think we're in the right place..." Stefan shines the flashlight on floor the melted ice water flows. I furrow my eyebrows at him. "Whatever you're trying to telepathically communicate....I don't get it."
