"Gin!" A voice yells through the wall.
    "huh?!" I grumble.
"Wake up!" The voice yells again.
    "No!"
"Gin, wake up or I will come in there and drag you to breakfast." Another voice yells from the opposite wall.
This was a pretty common occurrence between me and my two brothers. Shinya would wake me up, and Kureto would make me stay up because I would try to go back to sleep otherwise. This had been our routine for all of middle school.
Today, however, was different. This was me and Shinya's first day of high school. He was rather looking forward to it. I, on the other hand, was looking forward to sleeping after.
"Fine, give me a minute to change before you barge in please." I yell back.
"But why, you two are engaged." Shinya teases.
"And you're engaged to Mahiru and we both know you aren't gonna barge into her room!" I reply.
    "That's because she's terrifying!"
"Get ready for school, both of you!" Kureto yells.
Kureto was in his third year, and was probably grumpy at the idea of sharing a school with us again.
"Yes sir!" We both yell back, knowing full well how he gets when he's angry.
Dragging myself out of the soft blankets that covered my bed, I walk towards my wardrobe. A sailor style school uniform was hanging from one of the handles. It was purple and white, with red accents.
Putting the uniform on, I sigh, finicking with my skirt nervously.
"Why do these school uniforms always have such short skirts?" I mutter, before realizing just how much thicker the edge of the skirt was compared to the rest.
That's when I find the thread holding the edge of the skirt together ended in a bow. Pulling on one of the strings of the bow, a few layers unfold to reveal a longer skirt, as if someone had folded it to make it shorter. I already knew who did it too. My sister is such a perv, I'm gonna kill her on of these days.
"Mahiru, I swear I'm gonna get you in training today!" I scream at my door. Mahiru, my sister, had a room across the hall from mine. Her twin brother on one side and our little sister on the other.
"Go for it! If you win, I'll let you have my dessert!" She challenges.
    "You're on!"
I roll my eyes as I tie my shoes, and pull my book bag over my shoulder. Then I walk through my bedroom door, making sure to lock it this time to keep Mahiru from playing any more pranks.
Just as I start to walk down the hall, Shinya runs up behind me.
Apparently he didn't notice I was there, as he ran straight into me, landing us both on the floor.
"This is gonna be a long day."

I watch the petals fall from the cherry blossom tree above my head. It was spring, and as such, a new school year was beginning.
Today would be many students first day at the First Shibuya, the top school for children from the order of imperial demons. Only 600 of order's brightest first year high school students would be attending this year, and less then 200 would graduate.
Hiragi children were expected to be the example at First Shibuya. Because of this, we arrived early, an hour early to be exact.  Mahiru was preparing for her speech as freshman class representative. Kureto was doing student council paperwork. Even Seishiro, Mahiru's twin brother, and Shinya were training.
I, however, did none of this. I lay under the cherry trees, day dreaming about all the possible events that could take place this year. Before I knew it, I was so lost in thought that I didn't notice the first of the students beginning to arrive.
The buzz of conversation was nothing I wasn't used to, so I paid no mind to the gossiping of the other children.
Finally, I am pulled from my thoughts as I hear the familiar voice of my best friend.
"Gin." The boy grumbles as he leans against the tree on my right.
I look up at him, only half awake. His blood red hair stood out sharply from his black, military style school uniform.
This boy was Hachi Jujo. His family, the Jujo clan, were often selected to be soldiers or bodyguards for the Hiragi clan due to their high physical strength. The family was also known for having vibrant red hair, and to be able to boost their physical abilities with spellcraft.
Hachi was no different, which is why he had been chosen to be my retainer when I was adopted by the Hiragi clan.
"Come on sleepyhead, class starts soon." He snaps, jolting me out of my thoughts yet again.
Unlike most of his family, however, Hachi didn't have the best manners. Thankfully, he generally knew to keep his mouth shut around those above him, me being the exception.
"Right, let's get going." I say, stumbling up from my place on the ground.
As we walk towards the school gates, I hear mumbles of a supposed "Ichinose mongrel" attending the school.
Apparently Hachi heard it too. "Can you believe they actually let that weakling in?"
"You know full well that he is here so the students can bully him into submission." I say bitterly.
"Yeah, but I don't want to put up with the mongrel for three years!"
"Don't worry about it. He's not in your class, so it doesn't matter."
"But still-" Hachi was about to continue his complaining when we hear laughter erupt from in front of us.
Someone had thrown a cola bottle at a kid, with the lid barely on. Cola sprayed everywhere, hitting me as well as Hachi.
The crowd quickly fell into a hush as they realized that a Hiragi had been caught in their prank.
Glancing around, I notice that the boy the bottle had been aimed at was wearing a different pin on his uniform then the rest of the students. It was that of the Order of the Imperial Moon, a group that's soul mission was to overthrow the Hiragi Clan.
This must be Guren Ichinose, the next head of the Imperial Moons, and he was deep within enemy territory.
I shook myself from my thoughts. Walking forward, and grabbing the bottle, I spin the lid shut.
"Whose was this?" I ask calmly, making sure no anger was present in my tone.
"Mine, Lady Ginever." One boy mutters, terrified.
Tossing it to him I say, "Try to keep your things to yourself next time."
He nods quickly, and runs off. The crowd follows. This left only the Ichinose boy and his retainers.
"Yeah, Ichinose." I say, looking at the boy.
"Yes?" He asks, looking like a lost puppy.
"Stay out of trouble, will you?" With that, Hachi and I walk off.
After a few moments, Hachi bumps my shoulder.
"Why didn't you beat him up?" Hachi asks.
"Class is about to start, and we are soaked in cola." I remind him.
"Right, I'll go get us clean uniforms."  Hachi says, turning on his heel, "But you'll get them next time!"
"Yeah, yeah." I role my eyes.
As I reach the front gate, I find Shinya.
"What are you doing out here, waiting for me?" I ask him.
"Not really, I was thinking about testing the new kid." He explains. That's when I notice he's holding a fuda, a spell tag, inscribed with a lightning spell.
"Go for it, and tell me how it goes. Just don't kill him."
"Didn't plan on it!" He replies.
I open the door to the school, and walk inside. Thunder booms behind me as the door shut.
