This thing definitely isn't a normal bear, and it's definitely stronger than us. Not that I had expected it would bleed since it somehow had a dagger for a tongue!
"So, that doesn't hurt you. How many attacks is it gonna take to get rid of you, I wonder." I mutter to myself as I loose a few more arrows.
Each one embeds itself into the creature's front legs, but the bear doesn't so much as stagger. Hachi makes it directly behind the bear, right in it's blind spot. That is, if it was using the plastic eyes on its head. He raises his blade to slash at the bear's hind legs, apparently also planning on crippling the creature rather than killing it. Just as his blade grazes the bear, it begins to spin towards him. It doesn't get the chance as both Amethyst and Zev run out in front of me, each with a fuda in hand. Amethyst yells a flame incantation while Zev yells a lightning one.
The bear falters as its coat is set ablaze and electricity races through it. Hachi uses the opportunity to get a few hits on the bear's legs. The attacks do little, only shredding the creatures fur. Hachi takes a few steps back, muttering something as he begins to glow red. He's using the same strength enhancement spell his family is known for.
Once the crimson circlet flares to life over his head he rushes at the bear, jumping as he reaches it. He brings down his blade on the creature's neck. He seems to hover there for a moment, putting all his strength into the attack. He seems to realize that he doesn't have the power to decapitate it. Instead, he turns the blade, ripping down the bear's back.
He staggers backwards after landing, his knees almost buckling and the crimson circlet flickering out from how much energy he had used.
I run over to support him, readying my bow to defend us.
The bear falls too, but only a moment later, something very large tears its way out of the taxidermy bear.
"We're doomed."
