Too late, I yell, "Get away from the doors!"
The bear's tongue blade shoots out of it's mouth with unnatural speed, aming for Amethyst. Jain steps in front of it before I even have time to fully register what's happening, slashing it with her blade similarly to how you hit a baseball with a bat. The screech of metal colliding meets our ears, and I almost wonder if Jain will fail to parry the strike. Then the white blade is shot back at the bear, lodging in the wall behind it.
"Did anyone else catch that?" I whisper to the others.
"Ish..." Hachi says, readjusting his own katana.
"Not a chance." Zev laughs uncomfortably.
"I...I almost died?" Amethyst manages after a few moments of trying to catch their breath.
    "Yeah." Zev responds.
"Lady Ginever, I have a slight problem." Jain says, not taking her eyes off the bear as she turns her blade to show a large triangular chunk taken out of it where it had collided with the white blade.
"That's definitely not taking another hit. Did anyone bring an extra weapon?" I ask.
"No." Everyone say in near unison.
"This is why we don't plan attacks the day of, Kureto! Alright, Jain, keep Amethyst and Zev alive while they do support spells. Hachi, You're out front, I'll keep the bear off you." I tell them.
"Well, there goes all our planning." Hachi says as Jain pushes past him.
"When do things ever go to plan?" Amethyst grumbles.
"Never, but you still have to have them." I sigh, nodding to Hachi to get close enough to attack the bear as I aim for its mouth in hopes of breaking its blade before it can shoot the thing again.
Just as I loose the arrow from my crossbow, the bear retracts the blade just as quickly as it had launched it. My arrow hits the bear in the cheek, piercing into its mouth just as it moves to launch the blade back at Hachi, distracting it.
"Thanks." Hachi mouths to me as he uses this opportunity to sneak behind the bear.
I nod, before looking back to the bear. That's when I realize that the wound from my arrow isn't bleeding. The bear doesn't even seem to be in any pain. This thing definitely isn't a normal bear, and it's definitely stronger than us.

I'm sorry that this chapter is a week late. It's been a hectic last two weeks, so today was my first chance to sit down and write. I hope everyone enjoys!
