Hallucinations

Can we pretend that everything is fine?
Imagine if the world was still "safe"
Relax and drink red or pink wine
Close our eyes and listen to the sun speak

I miss the times where we saw in color,
The Earth bright and promising
When I'd be sung to sleep by my mother
Playing in her watchful gaze

It seems unfair that we weren't prepared,
Prepared for the truth and the sadness
Dreams we had now nightmares we share
Unwilling to accept our boring demise

I wish to go back to that ignorant state,
So I may lay on the pavement while it rains
Instead we are bound by this weight
The weight that comes with knowing of life

I wish I could hallucinate that tragedy was only in movies and we would all be okay
