Mom wasn't upset about my sudden disappearance, I just saw the terror leave her eyes when she got a glance of me coming through the door. Her eyes were heavy with tears.

"I thought something happened to you." She cried.

"I'm alright." I reassured her. "Just got mistaken at the station."

The radio blared loudly.

"And onto our next story." The reporter began. "Another girl has been found dead because of the cult that is terrorizing our island, she had been identified as Chanel Gomez and..."

My mind threw away the sense of sound that I had for as long as I can remember. I had completely blanked out, it all happened so fast yesterday. One of the people I cherished was instantly taken away from me. Chanel lived with her father, but her mom went to the Great States after the divorce. Just hearing his distraught was enough to make me turn down the volume of the radio.

"Chanel... Oh Darren I..." Mom was searching for something to say.

"No." I stopped her from talking. "I'm fine I just need rest."

After going to bed I took in the ceiling and its greenery hopeful to at least rest my mind from the pain I was in. Sleep usually found me during these times, it always gave me some sort of comfort, but now it was even more harder to fall asleep. Still, solace had finally found my mind calming this unstable mental state that ruined me

A field of green, yet again. Now was a bit different I wasn't happy of being here, all I wanted was some piece and quiet from all that happened in reality. This was the only place I can relax in, I tried to intake the breeze that danced about me and the grass rolling hills as an ease on the mind, yet I still couldn't remove Chanel from it.

"Why?" I growled. "Why did that have to happen to her?"

Her words replayed in my mind bringing a torturous feeling of guilt in my head. I was surprised she felt that way for me, but then...
Thoughts of Samuel came as well, he was the only one I can rely on with the truth of her death. If what he says is true the real monster is still about somewhere.
I noticed a slight change in the scenery, the wind was a little less gentle now. Roughly, it threw itself against my body and shaking the once still grass blades. In the distance, opposite of the setting sun, rumbling thunder ruled the skies. Dark clouds emerged and contorted into each other building itself up.

I awoke to the night and looked at my clock for the time.

"9:00pm" I groaned. My hands slipped into my pocket and looked at the Greek Institute number I was given. My thoughts were made up, I was going to call Samuel and stop this cults madness.

Once I was in the kitchen to the landline, my hands drifted across the numbers dialing the right ones for my call.
"Good night from the Greek Institute." A female's voice came from the receiver. "I am Cleondra Saunders, how can I help you tonight."

"H...Hey." I began. "I'm Darren Harper, Mr..."

"Ah." Cleondra exclaimed. "Mr. Samuel Hernandez said you would call." She sounded pleased. "Your friends also called earlier as well, would you like to come to the institute now?"

I took another breath and placed my free hand on my head.

"Yeah." I answered.

Another limousine had arrived to my door, and just as I had asked it didn't make any noise. I took the liberty to leave my mother a note in case I don't make it back by morning. There was no one else within the vehicle with me, only the quiet driver who didn't even make small talk. Still, I enjoyed the silence, it helped me keep a clear head.
Soon, I noticed the skyscraper getting closer and the Greek Institute initials at the top of it. The G.I. was brightly shining in the night sky, almost as a secondary star. When my destination was in front of me, I exited the limousine and found a young woman waiting at the entrance. She wore a standard white lab coat with a black shirt underneath. Her dark skirt was above her knees showing only a small preview of the snake tattoo by her left thigh area.
