Empty bars took the top right of my phone's screen, I heaved a sigh wondering what mom and Amber were up to. About the piles of black slimes and convulsing bodies of lycans, I was taking a breather in a small clearing between the mountains of corpses.

"Hey Cleondra all is clear on my side." I talked into my earpiece. "Have you found Chris yet?"

"Not yet." She answered. "There's a ruins up ahead with a massive hole through the wall, so I'd guess that's where Aria threw him. The camp where the Rusians are, should be to the east of your location, take Aria there while I get your friend."

"Sure." I lifted Aria onto my back. With a deep breath I began leaping towards our camp.

"Those fights were insane!" Joshua exclaimed. "I wonder if Japheth's alright?" He shuffled his back to hold Evelyn more properly.

"Your worrying for him now?" Misery spoke in a teasing tone. "I've seen you two bicker more than anything, I thought you'd be glad seeing him get a beat down like that."

"Sometimes I think your head isn't screwed on right." Joshua shook his head. "Me and that guy have been at ends with each other but that doesn't mean I hate him you know." He turned to the inn's bench area and placed Evelyn down first, then he sat next to her.. "You wanna know how me and Japheth got this way?"

"Hmmm." Misery pondered on the question. "Sure I'd like to hear it."

"Well." Joshua looked at the night sky, conjuring a memory.

Night classes had made the young man exhausted, Joshua was always praised by his family for his diligence in school.
Yet with that praise came expectations and with expectations came a pressure he felt from the very first moment he solved a high school level algebra equation in his elementary school years. Today his parents were unable to get him from school, he'd always past through the rougher side of New Port through car, today however, he was on foot and eyes of many aimed at this weak young man, hyenas after pocket money. Those eyes eventually acted out their impulse and assaulted him on his journey home, once they took his allowance, bag and even his shoes he was left beaten and bruised. When walking seemed possible once more, he came to Japheth's residence to rest his mind.

"Who did this to you?!" Japheth exclaimed.

"Look don't worry about it." Joshua sighed. "I was jus..."

Without a word, Japheth left his house.

Hours passed, the front door opened and revealed a beaten Japheth in his hands were Joshua's stuff.

"What the hell!" Joshua shouted. "Why did you go back there?!"

"Shut up!" Japheth raised his voice and jabbed Joshua's belongings into his chest. "I don't know where you got the mindset to not care about what happens to you, but don't think we can watch when one of our own is done in like that."

"We..?"

From the door came two more beaten figures.

"Damn that guy punches hard." I laughed at my pain.

"I'm gonna feel this in the morning." Chris wiped at the blood from his lips curled corners.

"You... you idiots..."

"Ever since then, I decided if I can't do things myself I'll call on them." Joshua smiled. "And they would do the same if any of us are on a wall we can't pass."

Misery smiled and patted Joshua on the shoulder.

"I envy you Joshua." She began walking towards the inn. "I wish I had friends like that..."
