"when we say reality, what do we really mean? in the 1800s, the best minds of the age theorized we live in a clockwork cosmo," the man on the tv held against a singular wall in the middle of nowhere explained.

"in the quantum age, time and space are suspected to be a hologram. ancient people believed we rode on the back of four flying turtles or on the horns of a white buffalo. these ideas beg the question, "will we ever know the shape of reality?" or, odder still, does it have a shape other than the one we give it?"

"wow! makes you feel tiny, huh?" luther marveled at the information from the right side of the couch.

"why would you put pineapple on pizza?" klaus asked no one in particular as he took a slice of hawaiian pizza from one of the boxes, his feet resting on the coffee table the two pizza boxes laid on.

matilda gave him an offended look.

"it tastes good on pizza. what is wrong with you?" she argued from between him and luther.

"here, give it." she presented her own already bitten slice as klaus began to pick off the pineapple from his.

"you know, when you think about it, we are just...tiny specks of sand in a desert full of other sand."

"i mean, it's a garnish for cocktails at best," klaus argued back towards matilda while luther talked, essentially, to himself.

"that is so not true."

"and that's inside solar systems, inside deserts of galaxies!" luther continued.

"i guess the real question to ask is, why is it on my pizza?"

"the real-real question is, who ordered hawaiian anyway?!" matilda shouted, luther quickly interjecting.

"hey! are you two listening?"

"yeah, sure. we're insignificant in all things, blah, blah, blah, sorry i'm not a stoned undergrad sitting in freshman philosophy," klaus remarked while luther took a moment to finally look around and realize they were once at the hotel obsidian, and now they were not. they were in the middle of a deserted place.

"wait a second. where exactly are we?" luther asked.

"we're dead, man," klaus announced, luther looking at matilda to find her with little to no surprise.

"we're dead," klaus repeated. "welcome to my hood!"

a familiar bicycle bell rang, matilda turning in her seat to wave at the girl who passed by, luther's eyes glued on her as well.

"i don't usually bring mat along but i felt bad this time." he sighed. "i'm starting to regret doing that."

matilda turned back around and took a bite from her slice while luther continued to watch the girl depart.

"if i weren't here, who would take the pineapple from your pizza?"

"the ground."

luther turned back to the twins. "who was that?"

klaus glanced over his shoulder. "oh, that was god. or, in the rare case that it isn't, it might be the devil. we don't really have a clear answer."

"yeah," matilda silently agreed.

"you can rest for eternity now, you don't have an obligation anymore unlike this idiot." she jerked her head towards klaus.

a moment passed of luther processing information. matilda swears she could hear gears turning in his head. "wait, i - i'm dead?"

"yeah! and i'm so glad we get to be here for your first time 'cause it's kind of a weird feeling." klaus now placed his hands over luther's. "it's like waking up from a really vivid dream. but don't worry, because it's all gonna make sense really soon."
