Astrid - What Are You? #10

You're half dragon half human, your species often gets mistaken for a Lykenwing species and have been hunted to near extinction. Ryker has you prisoner on his ship. Will the other riders save you and will you trust them? Or will you let your fear of humans win and remain a prisoner? 

The stupid dragon hunters managed to find me and kidnap me. You see I'm not like most dragons. Heck I'm not like most humans either. I'm half of both. There's not many of my kind left because we were hunted to near extinction. "Oh I'm gonna rebuild your species starting with you. Then I'm going to make you extinct again." Ryker says. He's a truly evil guy. And the humans said that my kind is evil? This is why the last few remaining of us sided with the dragons instead. At least when dragons kill, they do it for a reason unlike these humans. They kill and call it sport. Even in this case, the same goes for their own kind too. 

One of Ryker's men forced a group of people into a cell opposite mine. "Better watch, the freak will kill you if you try to escape." The guard said trying to make it out as if I was on their side. I just glared at the stupid human.  I went to shoot a ball of fire out of my hand but he reminded me that my family's life is at stake and my fireball was vanished. 

After the guards left, the group stared at me. "What are you?" The small scrawny boy asks. I don't answer him. They could be spies. Another boy speaks up, a bigger blonde haired boy. "She's obviously half human half dragon. It's amazing though, didn't think they existed. The Lykenwing." I roll my eyes and turn away from them, lie down and cover my face with my wings. "I'm not sure she even understands what we're saying." That was a new voice. A girl. It was enough to cause me to uncover my wings from my face and look back over at them. The girl was blonde, and had her hair in a braid. She was actually kind of pretty as far as humans go. 

"Do you understand what we're saying?" The girl then says to me. They don't seem threatening compared to the hunters. Maybe I can try to trust them and if they are in fact spies, I'll just kill them. "Yes. I do." Is all I say to them causing them all to gasp and me to roll my eyes again. "So, what are you? Are you a Lykenwing? Are you a prisoner or are you working for them?" The bigger blonde guy says. I can definitely tell he's trying to hold off asking all the questions he has which is a good thing because I am not telling them much. 

"Err, don't mind them, they mean no harm. They're just excited because we've never seen anything like you before. I am curious to know what you are though." I sighed. "No, I am not a Lykenwing, that's why we were hunted to near extinction because humans thought we were those jerks. I'm not really sure what we are to be honest. I just know, my kind has chosen the side of dragons because you humans are all the same. Vile, cruel and hunt us till there's no one left and call it sport." I said growling towards the end. "But we're not like them. We have dragons. We love them as much as they love us. And if you help us get out of here, we can prove it too you." Well, what better time to find out if they are who they say they are than an escape right? "Okay, I assume you have a plan to get out of these cells?" I say to them and they all nod their heads at me to say yes. 

"Guard, guards! I can't take it anymore! I'll tell Ryker what he wants to know!" The blonde haired girl claims in an exaggerated manner. A guard comes running in and the girl move the cell door upward sending the guard flying and knocking him out as a result. She did this a second time. With that, they all got out of the cell and she opened the cell I've been locked in and I run with them up to the deck. 

We fought them and I thought I was about to escape but then a psychotic looking man who they called Dagur the Deranged lassoed the chain around my leg. I thought I was done for and it looked like the other humans were about to fly off now that they had their dragons. That's when the blonde haired called who's name is Astrid looked back and saw my struggle. She flew over on her dragon and fired at the chains causing them to break so I could fly off. Hmm, maybe I was wrong about all humans. Well, these particular humans anyway. I might even go back with them to their home since they seem to get on well with dragons. 

"So, you got a name?" Astrid asks me. I suppose I can tell them given the fact they literally just saved my life. "Y/n." I say to the group. "Well y/n, you'll love the Edge. And until you find somewhere to stay, or build your own hut depending on what your preference is, you can stay with me in the meantime." Astrid says and I smile in appreciation. Maybe building a human hut isn't a bad idea, at least then, I can be safe and if my family is still alive, I can bring them one day too. Right now though, I'd love to get to know the other humans or dragon riders as they call themselves. But most importantly, I can't wait to get to know Astrid. 

Ending this one here. I'm probably going to make a part2 for this where reader has been at the edge and is now with Astrid in a relationship but you have to tell her you want to bring your family to the edge.
