Snotlout - Not Lout #9

Snotlout is having a hard time and wants to be leader but doesn't always make the best decisions. Will you be able to help him get back to the mission after he grounds himself after a bad practise run? 

We've been watching the hunter's growing dragon root for a while now. We've been training in the meantime to figure out the best way to destroy their supply of it. If we destroy their supply of dragon root, then we destroy the number of dragon root arrows. But for some reason, Hiccup has decided to put Snotlout in charge. I'm not against the guy, heck I even kind of like him but I'll never admit that to anyone but I don't think he has what it takes to be mission leader and making all sorts of difficult decisions. Hiccup decided to give him a try anyway since it is just a practise run before the real mission. 

Snotlout decided he was going to drop the barrel of monstrous nightmare gel on the arrow stock pile. Hiccup told him it has to be a precise drop so Toothless can blast it. "Are you sure?" Hiccup asked him. "I'm sure. Do I not look sure?" That's his way of saying he's actually not sure. The others may not realise that but I definitely did. Then Snotlout wandered off. I overheard Astrid asking Hiccup if it was a good idea and he told her he needed a confidence boost which is why he's appointed him leader for the training run rather than the real thing.

I watched Snotlout prepare for the practise run. He banged his head against Hookfang's really hard. That gave me a headache just by watching that. How it didn't hurt Hookfang I'll never know. Then we all mount our dragons and prepare for the mission. Though Snotlout still seems unsure about running the practise run but is trying to hide that fact. 

"Alright. Astrid, Heather, twins take out the catapult. Fishf- eh legs and y/n, focus on the farm, Hiccup and Toothless, get into position to blast the barrels and burn the fields." Everyone got into position. Astrid, Heather and the twins took out the 'catapults' while me and Fishlegs took out the farm of what will be dragon root. Snotlout got himself ready to drop the barrel of monstrous nightmare gel. That's when things started to go awry. "What's wrong with Snotlout?" Heather asks as he starts breathing in and out as though trying to not have a panic attack. Hiccup is unsure but what we are all sure of is that Snotlout is all over the place. Snotlout practically threw the barrel at us causing Toothless to blast it. Oh the poor guy knew he had screwed up. Maybe I should talk to him before the mission. 

I found him sitting at the edge of a cliff with Hookfang. I told Hiccup I'd wait behind and talk some sense into him and that Fishlegs can take care of the farm himself. "Hey Snotters, what's going on with you?" "Oh hey y/n. I'm not going on that mission if that's why you're here." Then Hookfang grabbed Snotlout by the mouth and hung him over the cliff. "My answer is still no. And we both know you're not going to drop me." He says and shockingly, Hookfang dropped him. "Snotlout are you okay?" I ask hoping he's not seriously injured. "I'm fine but look! I just noticed that these dragon root arrows have grown out in the sun. Not under the cover of darkness. So that can mean only one thing." He says and I click on to what he was getting at. "They're flying into a trap." I say. "You go and warn them y/n. I'm still not going." Oh brother. 

It took a minute to try and think of the right words to say to him to change his mind. "Tell you what, if this succeeds, and we rescue the other riders, if you want, we can go on a date." It's also my way of telling him I like him. "Oh it's a deal." And just like that, he mounts on Hookfang and we both fly off to warn the others and rescue them from the trap. Needless to say, after that mission, Snotlout says to me, "You owe me a date y/n." The others look at me and I just shrug with a smile.
