Chapter 10 Teacher Maria Meets Mrs. Del Fuego

While having their coffee, Echo received a message from his mother," Honey, where are you? I am already done?"

"Please excuse me, I need to call my Mom," he said to Maria.

"Yes, please you may," she said.

'I am just here at the Starbucks Mom. I'll just finish my cup and I'll fetch you okay," he called and told his mother.

"No, I want to have a cup of mine too. Can you order me Hot Macadamia and blueberry cheesecake, please? I'll be coming over," she said.

"Alright Mom, we will wait for you here," he said.

'We? Who's with you?" Mrs. del Fuego wondered.

"You'll meet her later Mom," he said.

Mrs. del Fuego smiled. She. Means he was having coffee with a woman and this will be his first time introducing herself to his mother a woman.

"Wow, I am so excited to meet her Honey. Is she your girlfriend already?" she excitedly asked her son.

Echo laughed but he was too happy with his mother's reaction, "Let's check if she will pass with your standards Mom," he said.

"Oh, my dear son. Whoever you wanted to be your girlfriend or wife, for as long as she will love you more than I love you, go for her," she's so excited to meet her. It seemed that she was different from the other women being linked to her son. The majority of them weren't introduced by Echo. This time Echo seemed to be happy talking about her compared to his previous relationships. She thought that maybe this one is different.

Echo informed Maria that his mother will be going to meet her.

"Mom wants to meet you, Maria," he casually told her. He wanted her to be ready to meet his mother. He already knew her. She's a bit shy and he wanted her to be at ease with her mother.

"Is it okay to meet your mother?" she asked. Echo was right, she was a bit shy.

"Yup, She was too excited meeting you. Don't worry she's such a cool mother. You won't be intimidated by her," he assured her while going to the counter to order his mother's requests.

Maria then felt a bit uncomfortable. As this was her first time meeting one of Echo's relatives. And she's no other than his mom. How will she react when she met her? She's been thinking too much when an elegant and sophisticated woman came in and goes straight with Echo.

She kissed Echo's cheeks and he held her waist while they continue talking to the counter.

Maria finds it awkward. "Why is he entertaining another girl when I am still here? Besides his mother will be coming here and he said he wanted his mother to meet her," she asked herself. She thought that this woman is probably one of those who were linked with the Echo. 'My God, she's so beautiful and elegant," she said to herself.

Echo and that woman approached her and that woman was fondly smiling at her. She noticed that she was almost a female replica of the Echo.

"Hi, I am Echo's Mom. I am happy to meet you, my dear," Mrs. del Fuego approached Maria and offered her hand for a shake.

Maria was frozen before she accepted Mrs. del Fuego's hand.

"Glad to meet you too Ma'am. I am so sorry if I reacted late. I was so amazed. You don't look like Echo's Mom. I thought you are his girlfriend. You looked so young Ma'am," Maria replied to Mrs. del Fuego sincerely. She was shocked.

"Oh, you are so cute my dear. Thank you for the compliment. I used to be mistakenly addressed as my son's girlfriend always," she was so fond of meeting Maria.

She wasn't as elegant and sophisticated as she thought so before she came here. But come to think of it, now she knew why her son is quite so different too. She is so simple, naive and the perfect word so innocent yet very beautiful young lady. She liked her simplicity and natural beauty. She felt comfortable talking with her.

Echo, on the other side, was smiling. He was so happy seeing that Maria and his mother were getting along well with each other. It seemed that these two opposite ladies were very comfortable with each other.

'I like her son," Mrs. del Fuego vocally told her son in front of Maria.

Maria blushed and Echo notices it. He immediately put his arm on her shoulder and asked his mother," So, how do you find her Mom?" He is now looking at Maria. He felt proud after seeing his mother's reaction. He thinks that his mother liked her so much and so he was too. He liked Maria so much especially now.

Maria felt comfortable having a conversation with Mrs. del Fuego.

"Thank you, Ma'am," she said.

"Oh, don't call me Ma'am. You can call me Tita," she said. She was so fond of Maria. She seemed to be a good girl She hoped that her son would not toy with her. She's innocent. She looked at her son and he is looking at her too. Their eyes seemed to be talking and Echo read between the lines.

He laughs and tells his mother," Hey Mom, let's eat okay? Maria was blushing already."

The three of them enjoy their coffee and pastries. Maria was so amazed looking at this mother and son pair. They were both elegant and sophisticated and yet they weren't arrogant. They were nice people. They were approachable.

Maria finds them comfortable and pleasant to talk with.

"Echo will you please invite her one of these nights to have dinner with us together with your father? I want your Dad to meet this beautiful young lady," she said to her son while smiling at Maria. She liked Maria and she will ask Echo later to be serious in a relationship this time. Maria seemed to be a perfect daughter-in-law for her and her husband.

She wanted her to be the mother of their future grandchildren.

Maria was so overwhelmed meeting Echo's mother.
