chapter #6: the fathers of Hawkins

Song: Old time Rock & Roll by Bob Seger

"CAN YOU BELIEVE MY DAD RANDOMLY APPEARS AND SAYS HE'S HERE FOR SUPPORT!" Jonathan burst through Lila's room frustrated from the comeback of his father.

"Good morning to you too shithead." Lila chuckles fixing up her hair for the "funeral"

Jonathan rubs his face with his hands  in frustration and groans. "You have no idea how bad I want to punch my father."

"He came back all of a sudden. Especially during Will's funeral. Where was he before when you guys needed him?"

"Yes! Thank you!. He was comforting my mother last night. He said she was sick and I was feeding her hallucinations and making it worse when his presence is making her worse."

"Beat his ass. Who cares if you end up charged with assault? I'll bail you out."

"You have no job. What money will you bail me out with?"

"My savings."

"Lila. That's your college money."

"And?" She said dully.

"Okay you know what...We'll talk about you bailing me out of jail some other time. He said he's here to help. And started acting all father on me saying to behave at Will's funeral and he's going to be better for the family! Can you believe the bullshit he's saying right now?! He even told me to take that one poster off my wall!"

"Yeah. Take the arrest and punch your father. I'll go broke for you."

There was a moment of silence in Lila's room. Jonathan looks at her and they both burst into laughter.

"Fucking asshole!" He laughed.

"I'm here. forever this time!" She mocked.

They both kept on making jokes about their issues with their fathers. When Lila stopped laughing. She felt a rush of sadness and worry. Will came into her thoughts.

"Hey..."

"What's wrong?" Jonathan noticed the girl's face drop sadly. He had stopped laughing once he saw the way her mood quickly changed.

"I'm sorry. It's just Will. I'm worried about him. He's literally a kid and this happens. We're even faking a funeral for him."

Jonathan pats the side of her bed telling her to sit next to him. She walks and does so. He puts his hand on her shoulder in comfort way. "No. Hey. Remember? We're going back to there and see what Nancy saw."

"This could lead us to where Will and Barb are at." Jonathan finishes.

"I know. I just don't understand why I need to ask Steve for backup. You do realize you're asking me to ask Steve Harrington, right?"
