Morning steps

Sighing i got up out of bed, the sun had just started to rise, but since i couldn't sleep i wasn't in a hurry to get up at all. I took a deep breath and turned to the side, i was hearing something... music... a Clavier i believe... The only one i knew who could play the piano was Karkat, oh i do hope that we can go over to see him and get my stuff soon..

I closed my eyes and listened to the gentle music, whoever was playing knew their notes quite well. However, i don't think i've heard Cronus get out of bed and go downstairs.

I commanded myself to stand up and move, i stretched my arms and stood up before walking over to the door and opening it, hearing it boom and get louder with each step. I walked down the stairs and hummed to the music. once i was downstairs i looked around. everything was the same, but i could see a new standing piano in the corner of the foyer room with somebody behind it. I slowly crept towards whoever was there.

I could feel the intensity of the presence but it didn't feel quite right.. I walked closer until i saw a large puff of wavy hair, a colic and horns just like..
mine.

" K-Karkat? Is that you. " He looked up at me not stoping his hands from moving and for once he smiled and cried happy tears.. He looked more mature, his hair was now more gently combed but still quite curly. But it was nicer than the rats nest it used to be, and his eyes were slightly tinted but just barely. It looks like he grew into his blood color, most likely it was help from his own human friends. Maybe a few troll friends as well, ah well who knows.

All that mattered now was that i got to see my brother. All of a sudden everything felt much more familiar, even the song he played.. it was a song from one of dirks 'anime' movies My Neighbor Totoro i believe it was called.. Well it was when we all had a movie month we would watch two - Three movies each week. But this song was a simple tune and calming one, i loved the way it sounded.

i sighed of happiness and went up before hugging my brother from behind before sighing and walking again to the front of the clavier.

"Karkat do you know where Cronus is?" He nodded.

" Probably making food. " he then stopped playing and stood up before he replied with a soft voice.. I guess he learned to control it. good for him.

" Want to come with me and check? " He swiftly nodded in denial.

" No, i cant i should have been gone thirty minutes but i waited until you were awake so i'm afraid not. " I hung my head and hugged him again.

" Thanks for stopping by, i missed you Karkat. " He hugged back this time.

" You too... " He let go of me, turned his back then walked towards the door. i appreciated that, he has always had it where it really counts and when it was needed. I turned on my heel and walked to where Cronus was said to be.

I walked in seeing him wearing a royal violet colored apron and putting eggs and toast on a plate

" Hey Chief, mornin'. Did you see Karkat on your way down? " I sat down and nodded before he put the plate in front of me.

" Why yes, he's grown quite a bit hasn't he? " i replied without emotion.

" Well.. he told me to give you this.. " he pulled out a silver necklace with the Cancer symbol on it. The thing looked like a locket, He opened it and i saw me and my brother in the two circles. My eyes widened as i stood up grabbed it and ran out the door.

" Karkat wait! " i saw him in the car fastening the belt before i tripped soon seeing red against black pavement, grey skin, and along with an open silver locket.
