TBATE - THE PRODIGY

The Breakthrough

*This story takes place right before Arthur awakens*

Arthur Leywin's P.O.V.

I was about done with my daily goal of book time, well maybe a few hours more than I had decided but it was worth it, during the final minutes of reading I found out that the mages in Dicathen can control elements water, fire, earth and wind, but no mage was ever successful I controlling all four elements, hell not even three.

It was also told that the mages couldn't manipulate which element they would like to awaken with, although some believed it dependent a lot on the experiences before being awakened, like which element were they the most around, although with no absolute proof.

I think that if I play my cards right and be closer to elements, I want to awaken with it might just workout I may even be the first tri elemental mage.

After my parents went to sleep I decided to work on my core a bit as I wasn't sleepy, I sat down on the baby chair my dad crafted from the mud and stones near the fire place which was lit as it was cold this time of the year, the chair was still a bit wet from all the leakage due to the rain, it was still raining heavily and I could hear the thunder, I started trying to move the particles together, it was somewhat easier than any time before to pull the particles together, I chalked it up to my hours of practice every day paying off.

Suddenly the windows opened up, wind and rain violently moving inside, any other three year old would have been scared and broken concentration, but I couldn't let this moment go to waste, I don't know if I would again have this much power over the mana particles again moving so fast and freely, I let the windows bang against the wall violently, then I noticed something it was not much but definitely was there, my control over again progressed, maybe it is because I am close I started rapidly moving the particles and to my surprise it wasn't as hard as I thought.

Suddenly I felt a piercing pain not in my core but somewhere around it, I didn't know how to describe it the pain was fighting my core breaking it away not letting it form, at the pace it was going my core will be destroyed in a matter of minutes...

After a few minutes of fighting to keep my core stable and from getting destroyed I saw the pain vanishing slowly, I could see PAIN, was this an element of some sort I had just discovered but as I focused more the pain wasn't leaving my body or calming down it was shifting to my core, I didn't think much of it at first but after 10 minutes the pain increased 10 fold, it felt like it was destroying my body but I reached for my core to see it was safe and, it was great better than ever before.

but I knew this came at a price suddenly my body started humming like it was going to explode with power, I didn't know what was happening but it felt like life was being drained out of me, I felt weaker, even when I was a new born I was stronger, I lost control over everything in my body, was i paralyzed?, all seemed hopeless before I realized my brain is my greatest asset not my body I had to fight through it.

I felt like I was going to explode not a figure of speech but literally, I didn't notice it but my body was over filled with mana my core was half mana and half.. it seemed empty but didn't feel like it was empty, if I was literally a living mana C4 I wasn't going to take Alice and Reynolds with me after they had shown me such love and kindness, I fought through the pain trying to keep the mana stable and inside me which only increased the pain more, I was barely outside the house but I didn't know how much damage this much could do and I had to get further, but my legs gave out, I could see the destination but had no power to reach there.

Crying due to the pain not even able to speak I thought ' I am sorry Mom and Dad I was reckless and didn't think this through, I love you both and hope you will be together wherever you go from here and hopefully far away from me so I don't cause you any more pain' as I thought this I realized that I wasn't near my house anymore but I was where I had wished to be, I don't know how but I was lying in dirt near a huge tree, I didn't feel much pain anywhere but still couldn't feel my legs, I tried to get up to look at my condition but suddenly a white blinding light enveloped me followed by what seemed like a purple orb which disappeared as soon as it formed, and I heard a huge bang and then-

My eyes opened, to my left I saw the fire place with burn marks around it, just a little to its right my chair had been something akin to melted but then instantly frozen, as I mustered up energy to look around more I saw there were two huge hole where the windows used to be, what the hell happened here? I thought.

Oh fuck!, was this me did the explosion reach here shit where are Alice and Reynolds, what is going on, I got up but my whole body ached especially from my core and below, MY CORE! It was complete it was formed, I couldn't believe it but I did it, I had formed a core, not only I had awakened but somehow I was at the dark red stage!, it was an amazing feeling having so much mana without the pain like yesterday, although something was weird missing in my core, not visually but I could feel it, not giving it much thought I went to look for my parents.

My parents were a little away from the house but I walked towards them as soon I spotted them, I was relieved to see them in one piece, I started crying half from the unusual weakness and half from the happiness to see them. They ran up to seeing that I didn't have the strength to do so, they started inspecting me and after a few seconds they both gasped simultaneously like in a TV serial.

Reynold Leywins P.O.V.

My son was standing back at his feet after sleeping for 12 hours, I know he could walk but I was relieved to see him up and standing again, although I could tell he wasn't feeling very well, as I got closer I could sense something from him, mana and a lot of it I though it may be because Alice spent all night healing him but after looking for a few moments, I couldn't believe my eyes I was shocked, and I looked at Alice immediately only to see her already looking at me confused.

Our son had awoken, at the age of THREE, has this even happened before, so many questions in my mind but I felt so happy and proud that my son was such a prodigy. I knew how worried Alice would have been after seeing this so I placed my hand on her shoulder and told "Don't worry he has not only awakened but advanced a stage which is probably why he is so out of shape, he is our son honey he will be fine" she opened her mouth to revert but didn't knowing this was a happy and a celebratory moment for any household.

Arthur probably didn't know what was going on so me and Alice sat with him explaining to him everything but he seemed to pay little attention, silly me he is only three how much would he really be able to comprehend, after we finished talking he was a little happy, we didn't want to make him feel different or like an outsider which is why I explained in detail how marvelous this was and we were so proud, although ignoring this, his gaze shifted back to the house.

Arthur Leywin's P.O.V.

My fathered went on about how I awoke almost 7-8 or maybe 9 years earlier on average, I didn't want to seem bored as I already knew all this so I gave him a cute baby smile, but I suddenly remembered our living room, it was basically destroyed, feeling guilty of it the smile disappeared from my face and I immediately looked back towards the house,

"Did I do that" pointing a finger at the house I asked

It was my mom who spoke "Well we don't know about that one honey but it seems to be related to the other one but I still don't understand how it happened"

The other one? what did she mean by that I thought of asking but my strength was leaving my body and my mother saw my weak expression her face turned to worry and she immediately picked me up.

"We can worry about holes and craters later right now you need more rest and your father needs to do some housework" Alice spoke in an authoritative tone.

I had a million questions for them but I knew I probably will doze off in a few so I did, my mother embrace felt like it was returning strength to my body little by little, the warmth made me feel so comfortable and relaxed, I opened my eyes to see my mother casting some kind of a healing spell on me whatever it was, it was the best feeling in the world, mana core or not I found what I was looking for, in a different world and a lifetime later but I finally found a family, people I cared about.
