The Test

I had a great sleep after quite some time, maybe because I had been freed from the chains of my past, maybe I was ready to move forward without the past dragging me back to become the same cold heartless person. This feeling was warm and a bit exhilarating, I had received kindness and love from all around ever since I came to this world but it wasn't until yesterday, I truly understood what it meant or how to feel about it, I walked out from the shower as I had worn my clothes.

I saw Sylvie outside on the balcony trying to catch a butterfly in her cat-like form, I still couldn't believe she was a dragon who may be capable of taking down A or AA class beasts with ease being so young.

"Took your time didn't you princess" Elijah spoke from the other corner of the room, I almost hadn't noticed Elijah in the room.

"had to get rid of all the filth after sharing a bed with you" I replied with a smirk.

"ugghh!" he grunted while stomping to the bathroom.

I patted my wet hair with a dry cloth and headed downstairs to eat, I was really hungry as I didn't eat much last night and I had slept in late too.

As I hurried to the hallway I heard light footsteps coming up the staircase which was just in front.

"Bwother oh you are here come quick!" Ellie said as she rushed towards me and grabbed my hand.

"Wait whats going on?" I said as she ran ahead making me almost trip.

"uhmmm...I don't know" she said stopping suddenly, which made me trip as I avoided running into her.

"Still sleepy, can even walk properly *sighs*," she said while face-palming.

I got up and thanked god she didn't stop on the stairs.

She continued to lead me to what seemed like the way to the backyard, I was a bit on edge because as we got closer I felt the presence of several people standing outside, I knew all of them except one person, and this person was strong, very strong I could feel there presence devouring all the others and standing out like a full moon on a clear night sky. I loosened up as I felt they didn't bear any hostility.

As I opened the half-opened door to the backyard door I saw a small arena had been set up and mine and Vincent's family sat on the stairs behind it, I finally saw the person who had a powerful presence, It was a very aged woman dressed in a green battle robe, with a wand placed at her waist which had a rather powerful gem.

"oh great you are here," Vincent said noticing that I arrived.

"This is the director of the prestige xyrus academy Cynthia Goodsky" he introduced.

She had a bit of a frustrated expression on her face, I didn't understand the reason behind it, and I couldn't make out why she was here either.

*smack*

"I'm sorry miss Goodsky for my son's lack of manners" my mom pushed my head down while saying.

Apparently, I had stood too long glaring at her trying to figure out why she was here, which is when Vincent spoke almost reading my thoughts.

"Miss Goodsky is here as a favour to me, she will be conducting a small test for your admission to the xyrus academy" Vincent explained.

So this is what Vincent meant by his surprise, it would have been better if he had discussed about it with me rather than making my decisions, but I definitely need more insight into mana, and Dicathens best and brightest teaching me about it is the best way to go hence I didn't argue, anyways he might have talked over It with my parents.

"I should tell you it's unlikely he will get the admission this year as all the admission process was done a week ago, I have only made an exception this time around for Vincent as he is a valuable customer and more than a generous donor," the director said looking to my parents, almost as if she didn't consider me smart enough to understand the situation. I felt no insult in the way she talked, even I would be frustrated if I were in her situation, she has bylaws and rules of the academy to follow.
