Frank never visited that summer, or any summer after that day in fact. It was as if he'd just disappeared off the face off of the Earth, but that thought just made Gerard paranoid and on the verge of tears. If Gerard would have known that that was the last day he would've seen Frank; he would have never let go.

He was promised a visit in the summer because of how close they were to each other and how much they loved each other. But it never happened. The day Frank left, Gerard thought he was gonna be okay. That little Frankie would be okay and that they would always know who their best friend would be...but that was before 8 year old Mikey walked into the house with his friend Ray next to him and asked "where's Frank?"

Gerard just started crying again and his mom had to comfort him for a few minutes before sending him to an early bedtime to cool off. He wasn't in trouble, just sad and exhausted.

But here it was eight years later, still thinking about his best friend Frank who may or may not even remember Gerard, Frank always had a bad memory. Gerard had honestly stuck with his word; that no one would ever replace Frank. He may have made two more friends in the 4th grade but neither Patrick, nor Pete would come close to Frank, and after Gerard told them why he was so sad and closed off, they began to understand that too.

Mikey still had Ray, in fact, they were now dating and it was almost unbearable to watch. They kissed a lot and it was always in the same room as Gerard, when he was playing online D&D with online friends. They also got sick of the spit swapping because they could hear through the earpiece.

The 16 year olds were just obnoxious, even though Gerard was only 16 two years ago. "Are you okay?" Mikey asked from the loveseat that he was sitting in and watching some cartoon that Gerard couldn't be bothered to learn the name of.

Gerard let out an annoyed sighed and stood up, muttering a quick "no" and walking to the door that lead down to the basement AKA his bedroom. Gerard was never okay these days.

Sometimes, he often wondered what Frank was doing on this day, if he was even alive - that thought hurt to think about. was he living in his mom's basement at the age of 18 too? was he he still in school, like Gerard? Or was he studying in college to become some big-shot lawyer? Frank never wanted to be some fancy lawyer or cop, not even a firefighter, no, he wanted to be an awesome guitarist in a band that was so famous that you couldn't even count all the fans he had. I wonder if that still is his dream...or if he's already living the dream?

Gerard on the other hand wanted to become a comic book author and sing with the voice of an angel, he was often told that he had an amazing voice, but he didn't really think so.

"Gerard! Your friends are here!" Mikey yelled into the darkness of the room, which was now illuminated by the brightness of the upstairs. Gerard could hiss at the light right now, but instead shielded his eyes and walked upstairs to see that Pete, Patrick and their friend Ryan were sitting on the bigger couch.

"Aren't you supposed to be with Ray today?" Gerard asked Mikey who was now alone because he was the only one who didn't have someone to hang out with.

"He is at a funeral...and we don't have to hang out every single minute of the day." Mikey answered with a somewhat offended expression and tone.

"Doesn't seem that way." Gerard mumbled and grabbed his leather jacket from the back of the couch for the 54 degree weather and rain. He turned his attention to his friends "so...what are we doing today?"

Pete shrugged, "not sure...ryan was staying the night with Patrick and I last night but he wanted to go pick up his friend Brendon."

Gerard nodded and turned back to his brother who was staring at Pete with an expression that Gerard could not identify but was glad he couldn't. Luckily, Pete and Patrick were only friends, right?

Gerard waved to his brother, "tell mom that I'm with friends if I am not back before she is."

Mikey nodded and waved back as the 4 boys walked out of the house and down the sidewalk which was now a darker shade with the rain splashing against it.

"So...Ryan, how are you?" Gerard asked with a smile. Ryan didn't go to the same school but he and Gerard had met before on other occasions.

"I'm good, you?" Ryan asked with an even bigger smile because Ryan Ross was always happy...or at least looked it.

Gerard shrugged and Ryan took that as a 'no' and decided to leave it at that and walk a little further ahead since he knew where the destination was.

"Do you think we should tell him?" Patrick asked in a quiet tone still loud enough to be heard by Gerard. Pete nodded without looking to Patrick. "Do you think he already knows?"

"Know what?" Gerard asked, wanting to know whatever Patrick wants to know if he knows. "I want to know."

"There's your answer." Pete said to Patrick before looking back at Gerard. "Your friends name is Frank Iero, right?"

Gerard's eyes widened at the mention of his name and nodded. "yeah...why?"

"Have you watched the news or picked up a newspaper, or something?" Pete asked, Gerard shook his head and Pete continued, "really? Hm...it's everywhere, on everything...do you think your mom or brother know and haven't told you?"

Gerard shrugged, "not sure about my mom, she probably wouldn't in case I would cry and my brother would wind up telling me because he can't keep a secret for shit." He didn't even know what secret he was talking about.

"Oh...well then...Frank is in jail." Pete said with a frown. "And do you know what for?"

"Murder." Patrick answered quietly with a shudder at the mention of something so 'morbid', "double homicide." He added and grabbed onto Pete for support in case he fainted or something close to that effect.

"Frank is in jail for double homicide." Pete answered, "there's more about it in the newspaper, we'll read about it at Brendon's but c'mon, it's starting to rain harder now and this is a new jacket."

So I hope this is somewhat of a cliffhanger for you guys...not to make you suffer or anything but next chapter will have the newspaper article and what happened...I'm wondering if you can guess who died? ~ Franking Iero
